Sorry, I don't really have any information or advice on the subject, but you might google it and see what kind of answers you can come up with.
Good luck!
There are tons of threads and Mrs. D'orsay is also known to post some of her immigration experience. Just search on weddingbee for "immigration" or "green card" as key words.

I'm Brazilian, and though I've been in the US for 13 years, I'm on a visa, so I'll have to apply for a green card once we get married.
Currently I work for an international organization where I get extra benefits for being a foreigner and I'll be eligible for what we call "home leave" as of January 1st, and I'm hoping to retroactively apply to get reimbursed for our flights to Brazil for the wedding.
So though we're getting married at the end of November, I want to wait until after I apply for my "home leave" to apply for my green card.
I started looking at the paperwork this week and there's TONS of stuff we need. Has anyone here gone through it, or will be going through it as well? We're hoping it won't take too long, as the FI should be getting a job overseas through the govt next year, and I can only tag along if I'm no longer tied to a work visa.
Any tips will be MUCH appreciated! Or just some exchange of information!
