Anyone else's guests obsessed with Macy's?

So my shower is within 2 weeks and I registered at Macy's, Crate and Barrel, and Target. Every single item from Macy's is gone, but nothing from the other two stores. I have actually had guests tell me that there is nothing left on my registry so not to be offended if they give me a check. What about the other 2 stores?

I think its sort of funny that my guests won't shop anywhere else but Macy's. Anyone else have this issue?

I now need to go find more stuff to add at Macy's.

I got that too- we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target, but everyone kept asking us "Why haven't your registered at Macy's!?!?!" It was so strange.  I wonder if it's a generational thing, most of my friends just assumed that we would do the two that we did, but the older people couldn't seem to imagine registering anywhere besides Macy's...

I love my Crate and Barrel registry, but noone is buying anything from there. I think you are right it definetly is a generation thing.

*Sigh* I hear you.  My Macy's registry has been super popular, well, so has my Crate & Barrel, but my poor Williams Sonoma registry has gotten no love.  :(

I need to add another *sigh* but for a different reason. I wish we had Macy's AND Target in Canada! I'm so jealous!!! I wish I could register for all the lovely Martha Stewart stuff at Macy's and well, one of everything at Target. *sigh*

    Sorry. Jealousy over.

I have a couple that I'm shopping for that are registered at those three stores.  Their Macy's registry was also almost finished.  I'm going to head to Crate and Barrel this afternoon though and pick up some other stuff.

Just a note:  The couple I'm talking about registered for FiestaWare at Macy's.  This made me super excited.  My grandmother had FiestaWare and I loved all the colors.  I'm definitely going to follow suit and register at Macy's just for FiestaWare.

Just a comment - if you have a wedding website where your registries are listed, make sure they're all showing up!  I was a bridesmaid for a friend and I couldn't understand why she'd only registered for like 17 things at one store.  I tried to bring it up to her delicately and ask when she was going to finish registering, and she got confused and said they registered for a ton already and were done.  Turns out they registered at 3 stores, but their knot website was only showing the Macy's one!  So make sure that your website is showing all of them correctly, because people might only be buying from Macy's because it's the only one that they see.

so funny because i have the same experience at crate and barrel. we registered at three places including C&B, Bloomingdales and a boutique called Material Posessions. We have received EVERYTHING off the C&B registry and nothing from the other two!

I wonder if it's just what's closest by/where the guests shop/where they have coupons for. My Bed, Bath, and Beyond registry is in high demand, and my Macy's has barely been touched. I don't mind where they go though--I'm just overwhelmed by the generosity of my guests so far. I feel very appreciative.

I registered at Target since the economy is bad and my mom said to because she thinks nobody could afford Macy's. The other day I got a raised brow about registering at Target.

We did Target, Kohls, and Macys.  After our shower this weekend I was surprised at the amount of stuff from Macys.

I think Macy's is popular because they're always having sales & coupons. I know in the past I've bought off of the macy's registries because if you buy during a sale, you can get more gift for your money.

Yep - my mom (and her friends) have Macy's cards so they always get reward coupons. Plus I think older people are more comfortable there and some people like giving "nicer" gifts from there. Seems silly.

The sales are def. a big draw. The other stores don't really have sales. Crate and Barrel can have good prices on things, but they never advertise thigns being on sale. I think uless you're familiar w/ C&B it seems expensive. But somethings are surprisingly reasonable. We've been repping our C&B registry to people - b/c we want to take advantage of their return policy! haha

@Miss Biner - We registered at Macy's just for the Fiestaware!! :) Can't wait!

I have only one regiustry at Macy's.  I got most of my dishes at my engagement party already and my wedding is a year away. What else should I register for?

I registered at those exact same 3 places! No one has bought me anything yet (shower is too far away) but every little old lady in NYC is obsessed with Macy's.

I second the ideas that people love Macys because there is a Macys almost everywhere (at least for my guests), it has good deals, and old people love the fancy stuff they've heard of. That said, I know my parents usually get gifts for people off the C+B registries because my parents love C+B. However, it wasn't until like 10 years ago that we had a C+B within 100 miles of here. So it could be the convenience. Every time I hear this, though, I plead with myself "but what about the Internet?!" I'm literally still bowled over that there are people out there, scared to shop online. Beyond me. I get older people not liking it because they are unfamiliar with the Internet generally, but I've heard of computer literate young folk who are scared of it? I always want to ask "why?"

Sorry I didn't check back yesterday, I had a crazy day at work. But it's funny to see how many of our guests love Macy's hehe. I do think a lot of people thing C+B is expensive. I always thought that but once we started shopping I saw a lot of the stuff was actually cheaper there than at Macy's.

That's so funny that guests are so obsessive about Macy's! I guess my guests will just have to get over it, 'cause I'm not registering there Smile

@amandalynn- You will probably be better off because if you register at Macy's you shouldn't even bother to register anywhere else.

Yep.  We registered at Macy's and Target and everything on our Macy's registry is getting snapped up like crazy.  It's DEFINITELY a generational thing.

We registered at Macy's and Crate and Barrel (and Amazon!) and no one bought ANYTHING off the other two registries until almost everything was gone from Macy's. I guess Macy's is just really convenient? And has a lot of sales?

My Macy's registry was definitely more popular than our Williams-Sonoma one.  We deliberately did not add to it though, because we really wanted our dishes from WS!  We had to put the word out that what we wanted was our dishes, otherwise I think we would have gotten a bunch of Macy's gift cards!

I TOTALLY agree.  I'm registered at BBB, Crate and Barrel, and Macy's.  There isn't even a Macy's by my house (we did it so that out of town guests would have options) and everybody is buying from Macy's.  Crazy.

We registered at Macy's, C+B, & Pottery Barn.  The wedding isn't even until the end of June, but almost all of the Fiestaware we registered for at Macy's has been snapped up.  It seem so silly to be excited about dishes, but I really can't wait!

I think people like Macy's because it is familiar, it's located an nearly all major shopping malls, and they are always running sales every weekend.  We registered at C&B and Macy's and although most of our items are on the C&B one, I suspect it will be a little ignored because several guests live in states that don't have C&B.
