I had to laugh out loud at the title of your post – too funny!  My mom has passed this time in her life already (thank God!) but I remember it vividly.  I’m sorry you’re going through this… hopefully it ends soon!  🙂

I think my mom went through this a few years ago but she is still as moody as ever. My FI’s mom is going through it right now and she is not at all like how my mom is/was!!!

My mom just started and is so excited. Seriously. But she’s *always* been moody and, since the 90s or so, medicated, so I think she thinks it’s a reprieve from whatever her historical body/brain chemistry has been. Um. We’ll see.

FI’s mom — very stable and even tempered — has a fwe years on my mom and she said the whole experience made her think she was actually losing her sanity.

@girlwiththeredhair:  Yup. My mom and I aren’t really speaking at the moment due to her being pissed off at me about wedding stuff. Menopause city….

Mine is but she’s pretty stable. The only reason I even notice anything is that my ‘feet are always freezing’ mother now has to kick off her shoes constantly since they’re burning up.

I went through some majorly difficult stuff with a menopausal mother – when I was in high school/undergrad.  I love her, but man it can be tough!  Best of luck to you!!

My mom claims to have been going through menopause for the past 20 years…. It is SO frustrating although I feel like the worst of it is over… kind of. She’s still a megab**** and while going through “the change” she feels like her entire life needs to go through a “change” as well… I wont go into details but i’m just glad im not getting married anytime soon.. I wouldnt invite her if she is still acting this way.

I totally feel for you. That has to be rough. My mom was unusual in that she went through menopause during my pre-teen and teen years….  She was a raving lunatic for a good 7-10 years. By the end of it all we eneded up in therapy and after a good buffer zone was in place we are now closer then ever. Just hang tight hun. I hope all works out for you!

this must be payback for the hell we all put our moms through when we were becoming teenagers i guess.  my mom went through it but i was away at college at the time.  she was never a raving lunatic from what i know, my brother was the only one left home.  i’ll be going through it in a few years and i sure hope i don’t get crazy.  i guess just be thankful your mom lives 600 miles away. you can choose to answer the phone or not.
