@mylittleviolett:  my husband surprised me with a “love you” engraved in my 2mm diamond band.  It’s really small, but I know it’s there and it’s always nice to know that there will always be something special in there.

I had my ~1.5mm wedding band engraved.  It’s small, but I love that it has it.  My e-ring is also engraved, and is about 2mm.  Its hard to get a pic but I’ll see if I can find one.

ETA: It says 8.4.13, our wedding date

@mylittleviolett:  I don’t have my band yet, but I’ll probably get 2-2.5mm to go with my 2mm e-ring. And I figure if they can manage to engrave “PLAT” on my 2mm e-ring, they can manage to throw in a date or initials or something!

I thought about… but haven’t done it

They are indeed very thin bands…

Altho I do have a “Baby Present Ring” (aka Push Present) from my first Hubby that has an even thinner band, and it has a teeny tiny engraving… so it can be done.

@mylittleviolett:  well what I’d really like to get would be “Only the Beginning 4/11/15”

“Only the Beginning” is from the song “Beginnings” by Chicago, which is our song and will be our first dance. It’s also FI’s ringtone when he calls me. I think it would be a nice sentiment to have our rings say “Only the Beginning” along with our wedding date, because it will mark the beginning of our new lives together.

But I’m guessing that might be too long for an engraving, so I’d probably just get our wedding date!

@mylittleviolett:  Hmmm I want to say $25 per ring?

I don’t understand why they would say it isn’t visible, I mean… can you read the 14K stamp on your ring? Because it’ll be like twice that big.  As far as expensive, if they charge a ton, look elsewhere. It shouldn’t be thaat expensive.

@mylittleviolett:  oh I like that too! It didn’t occur to me to cut the line down lol. That’s definitely a good option if my idea is too long, thanks! What are you thinking about engraving in yours?

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the song, but the full line is “Only the beginning of what I want to feel forever.” It makes me mushy and happy inside when I think about it lol

@mylittleviolett:  My FI surprised me by engraving the inside of my e-ring band which is 2.5mm (thinnest part of the underside).  It’s awesome and the story behind what he engraved always makes me laugh.  I’m totally getting our bands (mine is 2.5mm, his undetermined) engraved.

@mylittleviolett:  It says Conjuntio firmat which is supposedly Latin for strength in unity.  My FI wanted to pick something unique and liked the idea of his family motto. Thing is there are/were five clans with the same last name and he couldn’t figure out which one he came from.  So he looked up the five family mottos, apparently four of them were really stiupid (the stag over the wall and other odd ones).  Strength in unity was the one he liked and it seems to describe us very well so he decided that was going to be our motto.  We have no clue if that’s the branch of the family he’s descendant from, but we’re all about making our own traditions.  It was included free when he bought the ring.
