search for Bakerella’s account of being on a reality show – I don’t think she thought it was worth it, but I imagine this would be kind of a different set up.

If you go on, don’t complain about paint color! That always pisses me off, it’s like dudes – that’s the easiest thing to change! ;]

@elliestan: yes yes yes! hate when people complain about things like paint, or other things that are super easy to fix.

@elliestan: Haha! I hate that, too. Paint color is the easiest! And the other two that bother me are ceiling fans and chandeliers. Both of those are super easy to change out, too!

I know somebody who was on House Hunters International. She said she liked filming it, but the show was, uh, let’s just say not completely honest. “her house” at the beginning of the show? Not hers. A friend’s house. One particular scene she mentioned was completely staged. Ahh..reality tv. She liked it, though! I watch all of those shows. Love them! I think it would be fun to do. 🙂

How exciting!!!

I would have thought all that would have been outlined when you signed up to be on the show???

@elliestan:

I agree! It drives me up the wall when they complain about paint color.

Or on a recent episode of House Hunters this one girl based her whole house hunt on wide base and cornices. You can BUY that at Lowes!!!

@Jenn23: weird!!! I wonder if the house they end up with is even their house then….

And I agree about the paint color and the carpet – easy things to be changed!

@Demarca11: Ya the privacy thing would freak me out. I dont like the whole world knowing what my downpayment is, purchase price, and monthly payments. But Im a crazy private person in general.

But I love every show on HGTV!!

@PitBulLover: I just realized I didn’t explain it properly. The house they show at the beginning that was her house before she and her husband moved together to a different country was said to be her house. But it wasn’t. It was a friend’s house! Obviously, not necessary to the show, but still! Just shows that you can’t believe all that you see. Also, she had a semi-scary moment in an elevator in a high-rise. It seemed as if they were stuck for a moment and a little dicey. Well, she said that scene was pretty much staged. (For dramatic purposes)  Interesting!

My realtor was a realtor on House Hunters with another client. She said that for their show, they had already had purchased their house, but not closed yet. What the producers did was find two other houses on the market at the same time and had them “tour” all three houses as if they were still looking for a house, even though they had already purchased one of them.

My realtor explained that because so much can go on in the house hunting process (offers not getting accepted, inspections not going well, not getting financing) that it is not uncommon for them to do it this way.

Did anyone see the one where it was a single girl looking for a kitchen that would accomodate her wood block? It was this big cutting board thing that her mom had given her and every kitchen she looked at, she debated whether or not it would fit in…it drove me crazy to watch!
