They are not good for you. They say they are, but not. Just eat lots of fiber (that will help clean you out) and lots of water. And lay off the crappy foods! 🙂

I did the Standard Process cleanse twice this year and loved it.  I had so much extra energy and just felt healthier.  The first time was the hardest because my fiance was still enjoying regular food, but the second time we did it together.

i did the master cleanse a few times (the longest was for 14 days). i liked it because i thought it actually tasted good. i lost weight (not what i was aiming for), had glowing skin, loooooots of energy and felt great!

i’ve also done a 10 day water fast. had the same effects as the master cleanse (just not as much energy).

i did them primarily to rid myself of various allergies, for which i had been taking prescription meds for  years.

along with yoga and running, they worked to rid them. it’s been 5 years and i’m allergy-free and medicine free:-) yippee!!

i did a very non-drastic cleanse in january and i felt like a million bucks – totally worth it.  it wasn’t a juice cleanse, but basically you just ate a limited diet of really really bland foods.  link here:  http://www.wholeliving.com/body-and-soul-challenge-week1  i was never hungry but found the food boring after a while.  i lost a couple of pounds and my skin cleared up, but mostly i just felt like i had tons of energy.

i do think though that that cleanse was winter-specific (i.e., all food was cooked v. raw, focus on cruciferous winter veggies, etc.).  do you have any leads on good ones for the summer? 

also, does anyone have any advice for timing a cleanse to your wedding?  i’m wondering whether it’s better to do it right before, or a couple of weeks before.

I recently did a cleanse called the 3 Day Fruit Fast.  I bought the book on Amazon and decided to give it a try.  Basically the first day (which was the hardest, in my opinion) you drink a protien drink every two hours.  (either whey protien powder or egg white protien powder mixed with filtered water)  then you eat a salad of mixed fresh veggies with olive oil or other healthy thing for dressing.  The next two days you eat a serving of fresh fruit every two hours with dinner of a mixed veggie salad for dinner.  It was tough, because all I wanted to do during these three days was eat pizza and other carbs/unhealthy things, but being only three days really helped.  I did it over one weekend because if you’re working or have other committments, it’s not easy to eat every two hours. 

 

I didn’t really notice any problems with doing the cleanse, I felt better afterward and would probably try it again if I felt the need.  The book is really cheap on amazon, like $6 or something.  Like I said the first day was really tough drinking the protien drink every two hours.  The protien powder I got tasted really nasty so I had to plug my nose and chug it quickly.  But, you’re allowed to drink as much water as you want during the cleanse, however, no juice or milk etc.  I would finish the protien drink and then gulp down water to get the taste out of my mouth.  But, if you find a better tasting powder it wouldn’t be so bad I could imagine.

I’ve done a couple of cleanses. I really can’t do the ones where you fast, but I did feel so much better. Less digestive issues and less bloating afterwards. I think a mild cleanse is good to do once a year or so, but if you have blood sugar issues, be careful of the fasting types.

I’ve done juice fasting before and find them to be helpful.  It helped me to lose weight and feel less bloated and overall, just felt better and tighter. Plus the juice keeps your blood sugar from dropping like most fasts so thats nice. Just a couple days is all you need a juice fast, becareful not to do it for too many days.

I did the Blueprint Cleanse for 3 days (6 juices over the course of day, 1200 calories) and I really liked it but I had to be tough!  It’s not cheap, so I didn’t want to waste my investment, and that helped me focus.  It also helped me lose a stubborn 3 pounds that I just could not get past, and I’ve kept it off.

Two weeks ago I did the 3 day cleanse similiar to the one that was posted by mrsawesome09 and I thought it was really easy. I did notice that I lost a few pounds and that I felt overall just better.

Of course this past week has been stressful. My step-mom fell and hit her head and was life-flighted.  I’ve been left here in Houston to run the family business and so I just ate what I wanted.  Not good.

So I feel like I’m back to square one.  I’ve tried this week to eat healthier again.
