We are having a beach wedding… I’m thinking for our OOT guests in their bags I’d include some snacks, water, map of the area etc. but I also thought it might be cute to include seashell or starfish candles or soap… anyone ever done this before? Know how to DIY?
thanks so much

I’m including lavender scented homemade soap in my OOT bags, as lavender is one of our colors and I wanted to include local items (the soap I am buying from a local woman). I think soap is a great ideas, as guests are going to be at hotels with tiny, crappy soaps to use! That is what I told myself, anyway. =D
The DIY aspect is very easy, if you care to DIY them. Go to Michaels (or similar craftstore) and take a look in their soap making aisle. They have a variety of molds and easy DIY supplies. It really isn’t hard to do, I’m just not making my own because I have a ton of other DIYs! Same goes for candles, too. If you choose candles the method is just as simple. Maybe go with floating shell candles instead of bigger, solid ones to cut down on wax expense.
PS-Can I also suggest postcards in your OOT bags? We’re custom printing postcards at vistaprint.com and including two – one for them to send to a friend, one for them to send to us! You could also buy local postcards and do the same thing!

If you have any craft experience at all, DIY soap is easy as pie. Basically, you melt the soap, put in the color and fragrance you want, and pour into the molds to set! Like VagabondGirl said, just check out the soap-making aisle at Michael’s. It’s pretty self explanatory. Good luck!

DIY soap is easy and a lot of fun. It’s a nice hobbey, so on that basis alone, I chose soap.

I make my own candles. It is really easy. Buying candle making supplies in craft stores is expensive. Check out candlescience.com I order all my stuff from them they have really good prices.
Although I was going to order votive holders for our tables and found them like $25 cheaper else where.
Go for it. Have fun!

I have made my own soaps before and it’s so easy. I actually used this tutorial when I first started and they came out great. I got most of my supplies from Michaels:
