Hello, i’m an old Bee under a new name because I dont want anything TTC related to show up under my old profile.
Background: Im newely off the pill, started charting when my AF started last month.
I ovulated much later then I thought I would and took my sore boobs and crampy tummy as signs that AF was near. I was wrong, but I obviously only realised I was wrong a few days later when I had a thermal shift (temps been up for the last four days and I have my red cross bars on ff) and googled tender boobs and ovulation.
I was happy to find out I had ovulated, but am also a little worried because I know that sperm can survive for up to five days and my husband and I had had unprotected sex 3 days before ovulation I know im in the TTC board so you’re prob thinking, whats the prob, but we weren’t planning on trying until September-October and started charting in prep for that.
Anyways, my big question is, have any of you fallen pregnant after BD-ing two to five days before ovulation?
Am i part of the TWW club now? Should this post be on the pregnancy board? I dont really know where to post it

ME! I’m a first time mommy-to-be. We BDed only 2 days before ovulation. And now I’m 9w4d preg! Good luck with you TWW!

@ilovestripes: I did! I BD every other day in the 5 day fertile window and then again on my O day. I just got my BFP this wkend! Btw I think this post fits great in the TTC boards.

@scaredmomtoBEE, CONGRATULATIONS, you must be so excited and scared and a million other emotions all rolled into one. I think pregnancy is incredible and am in awe of what our bodies can do. Are you having any morning sickness, did you have any other early signs?
I dont actually know why Im worried other then the fact that it is a few months earlier then planned and i’ll be at the height of my pregnancy in the height of our summer. I mean it will be such a big blessing and my husband and I are both ready for kids, or atleast we think and hope we are.
I cant wait to see what happens. Thank you for telling me your story.
If i dont end up being pregnant can anyone tell me how long this breast tenderness is going to last for? My breasts were tender for a few days pre Ovulation but on friday, the day I ovulated not only were they tender but bigger then usual too. I think the pill kept that under control for me.
Funny story – The first thing I did when I saw my new boobs was show my husband, he looked at them, said oh my word where did you get that cleavage from, bent down and motor boated me. Im actually giggling just thinking about it. Men are weird… or maybe its just my husband

@ilovestripes: LOL – your hubby. That’s funny. Men ARE weird. Thanks for the congrats! I am totally freaked out and overwhelmed. Our wedding is in 3 weeks (which we’ve been planning for two years!) and I just want it to be here already. I’m freaked out about being sick, not fitting in my dress, all sorts of things!
I had morning sickness (all day long nausea actually, no vomiting) LITERALLY about a week after ovulation. I knew I was pregnant before I even tested. I was nauseous, exhausted, and just felt…OFF. I also experiences dizziness/light headedness for several weeks. I started getting the sore boobs later than the average, around 5 weeks, but I hear a lot of women say that’s the first thing they felt. I also had CRAMPs. Period like cramps from about the time I would have gotten my period to about 7 weeks. They sucked, and were a bit scary.
Just remember, everybody is different. What one person feels, another person wont! Just relax and enjoy your TWW! (BTW, I got my BFP three days before my missed period, so start testing early!)

@sweetnote10, a big congratulations to you too. Did you test because you were late and did you have any tell tale signs?
I’m sure your dress will fit, it might be a bit tighter in the boob area and maybe a little bit in your stomach but the extra curves will look good. I remember reading one of the Bee’s posts and she was preg at her wedding, further a long then you but her dress fit and she was a few months into her pregnancy if I remember correctly.
Here is a link to two of her wedding posts: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/04/21/dumpling-wedding-getting-dressed/
I really hope that you arent sick on the day and the nausea goes away – even if you are im sure your excitement and nerves will override the feeling. All the best for your wedding day, it will be perfect, i mean you’ve been planning it for 2 years so im sure it will be everything you dreamed of and more.
Ms Dumpling actually has a blog, unfortunately she is divorced now (but in a very good place), but she was quite frank about her pregnancy in it. I found her blog posts very honest and funny if you’re interested in reading it its theomgmom.com, you’ll have to go very far back to read the pregnancy related posts though. She started a birth stories blog too which hasnt been updated in ages but if you are the type of person that loves birth stories then you’ll enjoy it. It’s called Everbody Births, there is a link to it on her wall.
I do realise that everyone is different and im going to try not to read into any symptoms I might have over the next two weeks. Lol, my preg tests are already waiting for me in my cupboard. I have one early prediction test and two normal ones. I cant wait to use them.
I really didnt think i’d be in the two week wait so soon.
For us, we didnt get to go on honeymoon right away due to our finances being low after paying for the wedding ourselves. We’re going in September so i might just be pregnant on honeymoon.

for what it’s worth, we BD’ed on a Friday and Sunday and I O’d on a Tuesday – and now I’m 6 weeks along.

I have the opposite story as some of the previous posts. The only month we got pregnant out of five trying so far was the month we had sex on the day of ovulation (ended in miscarriage). The other four months we missed the actual day of ovulation but did BD both of the two days before (grr) and no go. I dunno if my hubby’s swimmers don’t live very long or maybe I have a sperm killing vagina, or maybe it’s just coincidence.

Also, this is the place that I would post this thread, and not in the pregnancy thread. Though, it would be answered in the pregnancy thread, I think that’s more for ladies that have already gotten a positive test and are in the 9 months.
You are in the TWW after ovulation, regardless of if you BD’ed on the day of ovulation or a few days before =) Obviously if you like didn’t have sex at all I wouldn’t really call it a TWW, but generally after O is the TWW, even if it’s not two weeks before you start your period.
Yay for the thermal shift and welcome and good luck!
PS, this is my anon TTC account as well =) I don’t wanna be talking about baby making on an account that people could recognize me!

I conceived 3 days before ovulation. I didn’t think it would happen because I didn’t even have any cervical mucus that day, but it showed up the next day. I tested a week after I ovulated and got a negative, then the very next day I woke up feeling like I’d been run over by a truck and just KNEW I was pregnant! My boobs always get tender after ovulation and are back to normal a couple days before my period, but that time it just kept going. I also started getting period-like cramps a few days before my period would have started.

I conceived the month we only BD’d 5 days before ovulation. I totally wasn’t expecting to get pregnant that month– and voila, I conceived a baby girl (which is more likely to happen (by some theories) if you have sex 3-5 days before O rather than the day of O).

@urchin: 5 days, wow!
With my first pregnancy (ended in M/C), we had sex a few times from 6 days before until 3 days before, and then Darling Husband had to leave town…I don’t know what day did it, but it was at least 3 days out.
For a variety of reasons, this time I got pregnant we only had sex one time, two days before ovulation…I’m now 36 weeks pregnant.

@Mrs Sarah McK: Yah, I told Darling Husband he had super sperm (he had just started taking vitamins the month before, so we blamed them, lol). Other months we had sex right before ovulation, day of ovulation and nothing happened.
Then we had unprotected sex once my entire cycle, 5 days before ovulation and I got pregnant. It was shocking! lol I totally thought I was out that month!

According to research i’ve read, sex 2 days before Ovulation is the BEST day to get pregnant, followed by 1 day before and the day of (other studies just say that ‘the few days before or at ovulation are the best, without picking out a specific day). 3 days or more before is certainly possible, but not highly likely.
Feel free to join us on the July POAS board if you’d like company in your TWW 🙂
