I agree that everyone should have access to insurance. In the long run, it will reduce costs for hospitals and doctors because they won't have to provide free services to people without insurance, passing the costs onto everyone else.
FI and I are both in med school and it's been extremely frustrating to watch what's been going on with healthcare reform. It's sickening that people's health has been turned into a political football, even within the individual parties. It's really destroyed any remaining faith we have in the government to do the right thing when we see individual politicians holding out on helping the greater good to win a few extra concessions for themselves.
I'm following! Both for professional (I teach political science) and personal (I favor the bill) reasons. Proof that FI and I are a good match--he had a pre-wedding boys' day out today at a local beer festival, but cut the day short so he could get home and watch the debate. I find this very attractive!

I was just curious to see if anyone was following the healthcare debates. Does anyone have thoughts on this topic?
I work in the healthcare field and volunteer every week at a Free Clinic. It's unfortunate how many people I see who do work but are unable to afford insurance. I don't always agree with all the politics, but I do think that everyone should be able to have access to insurance.
