The wedding is almost here and I’m getting nervous! It seems hard to get a hold of the vendors especially Black Iris Floral. Can anyone help calm my nerves? 😀
I am looking in a day of coordinator. Do any of you ladies have any suggestions?
Lastly, the coastal VA board is rather bare, huh? :-/

@jeni.deidre: Hey I am getting married there too! Mine is not until January but they are having an open house on June 23rd so I am definitely going so that I can get an idea of what to expect. I am feeling weird about the florist too, I dont get a consultation until October?? Please keep in touch and let me know how your wedding turns out, what to expect from the vendors, and especially the food—soooo not happy with the tasting I had. What kind of food did you go with??

I must say Black Iris Floral does AMAZING work! Only a few snags with communication and some details but they really wowed us! The communication with them is hard. I had to get two wedding planners to help me from afar (since I’m in Hawaii) but we were able to work it out in the end! I wanted fake jellyfish to be apart of my “mermaid/sea” theme and they were able to work with my vision!
These aren’t professional pics but I hope it gives you an idea of their work!
I did my own menus, table numbers and escort cards. I also ordered the fake jellyfish myself too.
My colors were purple, turquoise and silver but my candy bar was only white and blue… and they included red candy. I didn’t understand that. They have done better candy bars where all of the wedding colors are matched. I didn’t see any signs for the candy bar… I’ll have to check the professional pictures.
I loved the jellyfish centerpieces and I am so glad they understood what I wanted!
The food was REALLY GOOD! I had the Chicken Marsala, Salmon cakes, penne, broccoli, mashed potatoes and it was ALL AMAZING. And hot and delicious! The guests couldn’t stop telling me about the food! The tasting did not impress me as well but they MORE THAN made up for that! We barely got to eat though because we went from table to table thanking everyone for coming. They surprised us with an amazing to-go basket with all of the goodies we missed from the wedding minus salmon cakes. It was truly delicious, even cold! 😀

@jeni.deidre: Hey sorry for the super late reply! Wow your wedding looks like it was amazing! I love what they did for your centerpieces! The lighting is beautiful! I am super excited now, I’m glad the food was better than the tasting, I might have to copy your menu, lol. I am probably not going to do a candy bar, I am hoping to do a smores bar out on the deck since it will be winter. 🙂
