Where did you get married, how did you like it? Was it easy to plan, etc? We’re going simple beach ceremony for family and friends, then big reception back home. We’re looking at the beaches on Longboat key. My uncle has a huge house, so we just get married on the beach and hang out at the house after the fact.

We are getting married in Florida in May. I have found that it’s been fairly easy to plan. The best advice I can give is to get a competent wedding planner. I have a great one (we are getting married on the panhandle otherwise I’d give you her info!) and she’s really helped us hook up with competent vendors and get everything together. I always thought I wouldn’t have a wedding planner because I like to do things myself and am very organized but when planning long distance it was extremely helpful. We are having our reception at my FSIL’s house but we didn’t want to burden them too much with all the little things that come up when we aren’t there. Best of luck to you!!

I’m actually going to a wedding in Florida this weekend, in St. Petersburg. The bride told me that it was pretty easy to plan long-distance, she said that her coordinator seemed totally used to OOT brides and provided her with a limited set of options in her budget, which made decisions very easy. I’m excited for their beach wedding, so I’ll post after this weekend and tell you how it went 🙂

So here’s my “review” 🙂
The weather was absolutely gorgeous the entire time we were down there, especially the afternoon/evening of the wedding.
A boat on the ocean did honk at them in the middle of the ceremony, and some bystanders stopped and watched – I guess that’s to be expected, and I don’t even think they noticed, but if I’d been the bride and saw that I would have been uncomfortable.
The only thing that would have really bothered me, however, is that the bride had zero alone time before the wedding. It was a constant stream of family and friends all around her all the time. The wedding was on Saturday, and most people got there between Monday and Wednesday, so it was almost like she had to plan things to entertain them. Just something to keep in mind.
Overall it was a beautiful wedding. I’d just make sure you block out some time to yourself or with your fiance to enjoy before the big day. Good luck with your planning!
