Wow!  That is soooo awesome.  Kudos to you for sticking it out for 3 years & making something so special!  I’d love to be given something like that!  I want to give FI something special on our wedding day, but I’m not sure what it will be yet.

This is SO cute! I started a journal my senior year of high school of letters to my future husband, but I don’t have many. Maybe I can put those letters in envelopes in a book similar to what you are doing!

That’s cute!  I used to journal when we first dated (good, bad, indifferent) but I tossed it when I moved.  Wish I would’ve kept it!  Maybe I’ll start a little album like that… and write something about how this marks just the beginning of our journey together and this is a place to write our hopes, dreams, memories, etc.

FI literally duct taped his golf bag together for his bachelor party.  I went out and got him a new bag (that will not need to be TAPED back together…. I HOPE) in time for his party.  I wanted for him to have something the day of the wedding too (b/c from what I hear… my gift(s) are awesome???)  so I just ordered him the thingys you put on top of your golf clubs and a fancy divot tool he has been wanting (we got them for the groomsmen… and he’s commented no less than 100 times how much he wished that he had one too- I GOT the hint 🙂

I wanted to do a keepsake kind of item- but he’s not really into anything like that- but maybe the book could serve that purpose.  I just want smething to show our grandbabies some day.  Not just some cool “toys” that will be gone in 10 years.

I’ve been working since we got engaged on a quilt for our bed.  We’re hoping that it will become a family heirloom!  I’ve been trying to do it all by hand and it will be my gift to FI on our wedding day!

I’ve been thinking about this lately too and seeing what gifts other bees are planning…  I love the sentimental journal idea and the the handmade quilt…

@GoddessofNerdvana:  I wish my sewing and embroidery skills were better!  I’ve always admired my aunties ‘wedding’ quilt – it is beautiful candlewicking and all in gorgeous ivory… AMAZING!  would love to see pictures of the progress..

I’m planning on getting him little bits and pieces (care package) that he can enjoy on the day or be wearing – cufflinks, tie clip, cologne, cigars, flask, whiskey, and a lovely (far FAR too expensive) watch that should last him the rest of our lives together.

    Ok bit of back story…..

I almsot lost my FI 5 months ago. I really didn’t think he would make it. He was riding the motorcycle on his way to come get me (I lived three hours away at that time). He was run off the road by some big SUV that didn’t even see him. They never stopped. Luckily, he was found by a passing motorist who was also a biker at one time. She got him stable and called the ambulance. His spleen burst while he was in the bathroom and no nurse had came to check in on him. They found him in the bathroom, already in a coma, three hours later. He has no roommates, and no one knew he was in the hospital for 4 days, I drove down myself and started calling hospitals. 2 months later, he came out of the coma.

    Thank God above.

I thank my lucky stars everyday, that despite not having a spleen and a few scars he is back to his old self.

My gift to him? Replaceing all the gear that saved his life. New helmet, new armored chaps/gloves/jacket.

I’m getting a watch.  I’m really happy with it, and I know he will like it, but your journal sounds SO AMAZING.  so does the quilt idea.

@HisLittleRed:  OMG that is awful! – My FI desperately wants another motorcycle – i’ve told him it’s not his driving i’m worried about – its everyone else!  Thankfully he hasn’t persisted and given up… My best friend from highschool is paralysed from the waist down (freak climbing accident) and when i use to visit him at the hospital he use to say to me everyone else in his unit (spinal injuries) were young guys from motorbike accidents.  I remind my FI of my trips to that unit whenever he keeps going on about getting a new motorcycle…

@Gardenbride2012:  We are both still leary of riding the bikes now. We’ll get back to it eventually (we’ve both been riding for most our lives, 15 years and 10 respectively). And we’ve decided after we have kids, to only ride the bikes on short trips through the back roads. The nurses told me my insistence on all the riding gear was the only thing that saved him.

Moral of the story, biker or hobby rider, never go without your armour.

Yep and I’m sooooo excited about giving it to him! I’ve got 7 weeks left before I can give it to him. He lives and breathes tennis and has never been to a live match with the ‘pro’s’ playing so I’ve bought two tickets to see the masters final in london, November this year. The tickets don’t arrive until a week before and our wedding is very soon so I went online and found a fairly large keyring that looks like a tennis ball and have had a message printed on it! It’s wrapped up like a  proper little gift in a cute box with a ribbon in our theme colour. Hes going to go crazy!!!
