If so where and what cost do you anticipate it to be?

Do either of you have a specific cruise like that you can recommend? Your trips sound fantastic!

I personally like Royal Carribean out of FL better than Carnival.  The key is to really look at how old the ship is and how big it is.  Some of the older ships have been redone but they still can be small for the longer cruises.

I've done Carnival a few times in the past and have always had a good experiance with them.  I've also done the 2 Disney cruises (sans children since I don't have any) and it was also a good time.  If you do a Carnival I would advise not to do it on a school vacation time.  My Carnival cruises were in early Dec and end of March. The Disney cruises were mid Jan and the end of Feb.

I could have a crappy cruise, but I would still have fun, bc 1-I'm not at work dealing with idiots, 2-I'm not at home having to deal with cleaning, cooking and idiots in general 3-I dont have to deal with cold weather :)

I love cruises!  I like Princess and Royal Caribbean the best, Carnival is good, but I would pick Royal Caribbean or Princess if I had a choice.  And try to get a new ship.

and stay far away from Discovery Cruiseline it's a 1-day cruise from Miami to Bahamas which u can either get off and stay there or come back the same day....We call that one "the cruise from hell".

7-night western caribbean leaves Jan 2 returns Jan 9th.  It's costing us $2500, because we sprung for a room with a balcony and an ocean view, and it's a brand new ship, just went on it's maiden voyage this month!  Our airline tickets are pretty expensive though because we fly out on Jan 1, I think it's $500 for both of us.... Hopefully we will get lots of wedding money to pay for excursions!

@otb - we are doing a western caribbean too - ours was about $1500 for balcony as well and we received just over that amount in wedding money so hopefully it will work our for your trip as well!  we are excited to book some spa treatments we otherwise prob wouldn't be able to afford =D

we aren't going on a cruise for the honeymoon but for our wedding. For us the prices are inside $527, window-$586 and balcony-$696. Its a 8 day 7 night cruise. We expect our plane tickets to be between $200-$250 round trip. I have always learned to bring extra money on vacation because its better to have too much than not enough. So we are bringing $4000 for spending money and our roomtabs. Even though I'm 95% sure we aren't going to spend all of it.

I've been on a few Royal Carribean and only one Carnival cruise, all when I was between 10-16. IMO they were all the same (of course i probably didn't pay attention to much since i was younger) and you are going to have fun NO MATTER what.

I love cruises because you get the opportunity to see so many great places! I've been on several and I defiantly recommend Royal Caribbean (although we had a great time on Carnival as well). Things you need to do:

    1. Splurge on a room with a balcony. As honeymooners you will spend more time in your room than the average cruiser, so that makes it nice.

    2. Go to the shows! (I didn't do this on my the second cruise and I really regretted it because on our third one we had the best time!)

    3. Pick cool excursions, things you really will never get to do, we went swimming with stingrays (super scary but really cool at the same time!)

Cruise 1 we went to Cozumel, Belize, and Florida Keys. Cruise 2 Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarteen. Cruise 3, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize, Grand Kayman.

    ENJOY!

We love to cruise!  We recently went on Freedom of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) - which is the largest ship in the water for another week or so ;-)  (Oasis of the Seas sets sail very soon...)

I would echo splurging on the balcony.  We did it this past time and will ALWAYS get a balcony from now on.

We typically spend about $800 - $1000 on drinks and extras for a week.

Bring more sunscreen, Advil, Benadryl, and sunburn soothing lotion than you think you'll need.  I had to buy a packet of Benadryl on the ship this last time and it was $14.  We also ran out of sunscreen, even with 4 bottles...

We've sailed twice to CoCo Cay (RC's private island), St. Thomas (go to Magen's Bay! take a cab for about $8/person and it's $4 to get "in" to the beach and then $ for drinks at the beach - and the pizza at that bar is fantastic), and St. Maarten (We like Bikini Beach just down from the nude Orient Beach - it's on the French side of the island. There's also a great little crepe stand in a back corner at the dock that we always stop at)

We are actually doing a wedding cruise :)  Going on Royal Caribbean on Liberty of the Seas - Eastern Caribbean to Labadee, Haiti; Philipsburg, St Maarten; San Juan, PR; and .  We're leaving on May 2, 2010.  As for those 'unexpected' expenses, I would just point out a few things -

    1. Your tips.  The second to last day they leave you envelopes - you have the option of having it billed to your room (usually around $68pp and they distribute to each person as they see fit); Or you can leave cash.  They have a tipping guide on most of the cruise websites (RCCL, Carnival, etc).  These tips are not included in your cruise price and go to the Maitre D, Waiter, Room Steward, etc.
    2. If you drink soda you can get a soda card for about $50 for the week - otherwise you're paying per soda.  Water, ice tea, lemonade, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are free on RCCL.  The Drink of the Day is usually around $6-$8 (a frozen margarita, etc) and other drinks are around $1 or $2 more than at a regular bar.
    3. Be aware of specialty restaurants.  On Royal they have Portofino's and Chops - they are $20-$25 per person (thats basically your gratuity).  I highly reccomend them.  RCCL also has Johnny Rockets, which is where you need to be careful.  The food is included, but your sodas, shakes and ice cream are not and have their own price.

I would recommend going on www.CruiseCritic.com - Its an awesome board where - just like on here - they have boards for people who go on the same ship.

This will be my third RCCL cruise (Navigator, Adventure - both Voyager Class - and our Wedding cruise will be on Liberty, a Freedom Class ship).  I have had several friends go on Carnival but say its not as nice as Royal, Princess or the others.

    I hope it helps!

I second CruiseCritic.com!  I LOVE going on there and reading real reviews - it's like the Wedding Bee Boards for cruises ;-)

Also - YES - go to Chops!  It's COMPLETELY worth it!

We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise with some friends a couple of years ago for spring break. It was a great time, but all the other kids onboard made us look bad (like falling down stairs drunk, trying to smuggle booze back onto the ship, etc.). I wouldn't recommend going anytime in March, or during the younger school vacation weeks.

We're thinking about going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Western Mediterranean for the first half of our honeymoon next year on Voyager of the Seas. Barcelona > day at sea > Naples, IT > Rome, IT > Florence/Pisa, IT > Nice, FR > Provence, FR > Barcelona. For an inside room, it's only $800 pp for the 7-night cruise. Can't beat it! We're tentatively planning a drive from Barcelona to Munich for the second half of the honeymoon, which is bound to be an adventure.

We both love the idea of taking a cruise for at least part of the honeymoon-- it's so relaxing and it's so nice to not have to think so much ;) Royal Caribbean is fabulous from our experience-- the food was phenomenal, the staff was friendly, and the rooms were just what we needed.
