We just booked our Australian HM, so I would love to talk itineraries with any other brides going there.

We're going to Australia!  We haven't booked yet since we're so far out, but we're planning to do 3-4 days in Sydney, and spend 7-8 days in and around Cairns.  My man is really into diving, so he wanted to spend most of our time near the reef. Where are you all going?  Are you going with a tour group or doing your own thing?

We are going on our own - booked entire trip, including all flight transfers and excursions, through a travel agent.

We're going for 17 days.  We're doing Sydney, Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforest, Hamilton Island and Melbourne.

I'm also going to Australia, but as I'm Australian it's a trip home and a wedding celebration for family and friends who are local, rather than a big holiday -- we're having 2 weeks in the US (NYC and California) followed by two weeks in Australia, mainly southern Queensland where I'm from.

We go every year, so FI knows most of the main cities so I don't feel too guilty about taking two weeks to relax and hang out with friends and family.

lanany10, how long are you in Melbourne for? I used to live there and love it to bits.  I'm also a huge fan of Sydney.

We'll be in Melbourne for 3 nights, staying at the Park Hyatt.  We're already booked on a food and wine tour and another sight seeing tour, but have one full day free so would greatly appreciate any recommendations you have!

Also, we're taking a few intercontinental flights and I've heard that the carry on limit is pretty low.  Is that true?

    I wish! Definitely jealous :)

I don`t think Australia is within our budget; maybe as an anniversary trip later though!

For carry on, check what your airline allows -- I think it's 7kg (not sure what that is in pounds). I've never had mine weighed and I've always had more than enough room to take everything I need for a 24-hour flight (flying BA and Qantas, mainly).

Melbourne's fabulous! If it's a nice day, consider taking the tram down to St Kilda (by the sea) and just poke around the area -- it's a great suburb, lots of cool shops and restaurants, plus the pier is also great to walk along -- the day we went to St Kilda was my FI's favourite of the time we spent in Melbourne a couple of years ago.

The Melbourne Museum is also really, really good if museums are your thing -- and Federation Square (near Flinders St Station and just across the bridge from the South Bank) is also good, especially for its art gallery.

If shopping is your thing, head over to Chapel Street in South Yarra -- it was brilliant when I lived there.

I want to go back right now, just thinking about it!

We're doing Australia for our HM as well!  We're doing just shy of 2 wk, and have already booked our flights & hotels (staying at Thala Beach Resort and Silky Oaks).  Activities are where we're at now.  I made a post a few days ago asking for recs on reef excursions (think we're pretty set with our Daintree Rainforest excursion though not yet booked) and a Kuranda day.  Would love to hear what you're planning while in that region!!

We're all over the place, but when we are in that area are staying at the Daintree Wilderness Lodge, Shantara Resort & Spa and Qualia.  Our TA is great and booked a ton of excursions for us.  Would be happy to share if you are interested.  When are you going?

We are planning Australia as well.  lanany- LOVE your itinerary.  Its pretty much exactly what we want to do but having hard time decided whether or not we want to do all that flying within the country.  I'd love to hear more about your excursions.  I think we need a travel agent too!
