I can’t really afford much for a florist but I really want fresh flowers at my wedding for center pieces, even if they are small. I’m thinking about growing my own/having some family members plant some too but I don’t really know much about gardening.. Just wondering if anyone else has done so, and how they turned out (pictures would be great!)

unfortunately not much grows up here out side a green house (which I don’t have) I do have a few potted plants of lavendar which I do plan on using in what little dedor I do have though.
My only thought would be 1. making sure your plant breeds are designed for cutting and 2. getting those darned stems long/straight enough. I have grown roses in the past and loved keeping them in vases around the house but they always seemed to have short stubby stems which is fine for a vase not not fine for a bouquet.
That being said I think it is an awesome idea. I have seen some lovely lilac bouquet pictures lately and I know those grow well in new jersey and cut well. Also tiger lillies that grow in ditches make beautiful cut arrangements becuase they last so long. It is a great idea and I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
There is always the option of buying supermarket flowers and arrangeing your own bouquets too if it doesn’t work out so you arn’t really out anything other than some seeds

@globalmargaret: Thank you so much for your advice! The tiger lillies are a wonderful idea, my grandparents had those all around their house and we’re actually getting married in the town they lived in… It would be really beautiful to have that memory of them on my wedding day. Thanks again 🙂
