He bought the ring that I wanted back in the middle of December, after the salesperson said they only had one of the setting I wanted and it would take them 6 weeks or so to make another. But….he still hasn’t proposed. I’m not sure what to think. Anyone gone through something similar?

Yes! My fiance bought my ring in November (I knew about it – we went shopping together and it was only on sale for awhile so similar situation). We got engaged on May 7th…about six months later!
Is he waiting for something? I realized after my proposal that he was waiting for the area to be clear of snow – we went hiking up to some beautiful waterfalls. It also turned out as a positive because he completely paid off the ring in that time.
I think guys really want to be in charge of the proposal. This is the part that they have control over and they really want it to be how they want it and special. They know that everyone is going to ask you about it and I think it’s really important to him. Have you asked him what’s taking so long? 🙂

He’s probably waiting for a special date, event or to try to make sure you’re not expecting it. Or, instead of waiting for a special date, he might just be waiting until there are no birthdays, other weddings and engagements happening, or holidays, so it can be a special day in your lives for just the two of you. Mademosisellei has a good point – is there something that might work better in another season for you?
At least you know he’s taken the steps to get the ring, so it’s more of a waiting with an end in sight – let us know when he decides to ask 🙂

My fiancee bought the ring almost a year before he proposed. He bought it early because it was the one I wanted and it was being discontinued, but he just wasn’t 100% ready to propose yet. It was frustrating, but I don’t think it’s all that uncommon. It’s a big decision and they don’t want to feel rushed into it. (Though, I admit, it was a very tough year for me- waiting and wondering if I was ever going to get to see that ring again.)

Thanks, ladies! It’s always nice to know you’re not the only one!
