FI loves his cars. He has a 91 Eagle Talon. And HAD a 91 Miata, just got totalled by a hit and run.
And we aren't doing those into the wedding, we're doing baseball :)
My FI is a car lover as well! Total Ford family I am marrying into. His dad has 3 older Mach1 mustangs and my FI works for Ford so that works well. I thought maybe of inforporating it into a grooms cake or something but not too sure what yet?
@Soon2bSuttle: THat'd be cute! You could do the ford logo as a cake.
Love the ford cake! I've also seen ford garters... I have to make my own Subie one!

My hubs is. We just sold his '03 Corvette last year when we built our home and started trying for a baby. It was just sitting more than normal bc it's not allowed to see certain weather conditions and it was time to move on. It was kinda sad bc he bought it the week we met and our first date was in that car. He'll have another one someday I'm sure of it. He had a '67 Camaro convertible in high school that I would love to get back bc thats my favorite car! I'm a sucker for muscle cars. :) He also had a '72 Corvette and '86 Corvette. Right now he's trying to convince me to buy his friends '50s Chevy truck to rebuild. I just laugh bc I'm not sure where we would put it and when he would actually work on it! Boys and their projects...
@miss.nicole: umm my husband's obsession with his car concerns me. His license plates says "NoahsZ" becuase he has a 350Z... I don't get it.
Unfortunately my SO is a mechanic so he works/lives/breathes cars and bikes! He's even built his own racing car below (hopefully this will be our wedding car - so not all bad! Even though it is extremely fast! ;) - and currently doing up a 70's hot rod!

I knew this when I met him so theres no way I could, or would change him!
@gogogiraffes: My FI has a 91 Eagle Talon too! That car and his motorcycle are like his children.
FI is a mechanic as well and loves all things cares. I grew up around cars because my father is also a mechanic. I guess it was destined to be.
My FI LOVES his Jeeps. I got one after I met him and now we work on them together. All he wants to do is talk about Jeeps and buy $300-1,000 parts for his Jeep *headsmack*
@ama0219: What color?! Ours is a TSI AWD red! Small world! His has 75k miles on it!
yes my husband is absolutely into cars and his knowledge and ability to work on them is extremely impressive (he's not a mechanic btw).
i've mentioned it before in the splurge thread but i guess it's more appropriate here.
we dropped a toyota supra twin turbo 2JZ engine in a lexus gs 300. it's an older model one (94) but it's still a beautiful car and we're literally gutting it, inside and out. the engine part is completely done...looks like a show car engine. now we're focusing on all the aesthetics. it's getting a brand new paint job, we're having new floor carpeting put in and the leather seats redone. and of course some nice sporty rims which we already have and they're black but i want them painted buffed silver. the black is too juvenile to me, i want it to have a sophisticated look, not a street look.
i'm very excited, can't wait for it to be done. it's going to be my every day car:)
we definitely love our cars. he's more into the fast and furious type of crap and he's gotten me to appreciate it a little, but my knowledge is mostly higher end car stats. porsche 911 turbo is my dream car and i will buy myself one some day:) and i intend on having a personalized license plate on the back that says "I BOT IT" so people don't think i'm some rich housewife driving a car around that my husband bought me. /feminist lol
@nontraditionalmiami: as soon as I read this, FI was like. THAT is what I want.
Edit: I have a 2011 Jetta TDI, was a sedan, now I have a wagon, and I want to get my plate saying, <3 my VAG. (vag = volkswagen auto group)
@gogogiraffes: :) it is pretty badass. at first i wasn't crazy about the idea but then i started reading up on the aristos and seeing a lot of youtube videos of them and how nice the older gs models look when restored, and agreed to the project.
@gogogiraffes: i'm glad you clarified what you meant by VAG hahaha
@nontraditionalmiami: I'm worried people won't get it once I get it. FI's miata (grad present) got totalled a few nights ago. So he's looking at getting a new one. He's really into them. It's funny because he's 6'4". HOW DO YOU FIT IN THERE?
lol is he going to do anything special with the miata or just stock?
those things are a lot of fun, my dad's wife had one and i drove it a lot. it was a 5 spd too. it's fun whipping in and out of traffic in those things but yes...very dangerous.
My husbands a mechanic, cars are his life. We are Honda and Acura people. Right now, he is building me a car from scratch. I can't wait :)
DH is an auto technician, so needless to say, yes he's a car guy! We don't have any fancy vehicles due to being students and such, but there are certainly aspirations to acquire those nice cars. For now, our Miata tides us over. We hope to restore a Datsun 280z. No ricers for us, however, with weed-whacker exhausts or unnecessary wings. Ick.
@gogogiraffes: It's silver. 160K miles. He wanted me to post a pic. =]
we are both kinda car people. he has driven BMWs since the day he turned 16 and he'll never buy another make. He isnt really one to work on his car or anything like that, but he sure loves driving it!
@nontraditionalmiami: not sure, because we have to see what the insurance gives him first. But his red miata that was totalled was pretty aftermarket.
My fiance and I actually drag race, along with about 3/4 of the wedding party! We obviously do it at the race track, and are there every weekend. That's actually how we knew each other! He just won a HUGE race worth lots of money, and only the 4th door car to do so ever! I have a dragster I share with my dad. We love it, and it's a BIG part of why we work so well together, becuase with racing you are gone almost every weekend and go on trips. We love it and wouldn't change it for the world : )
My FI has a car loving FI >_>
Although, I have to admit, my true love will always be in sport bikes. =D
My FI has a black Mazda RX-8 Grand Touring, which I've named "Batmobile," that he absolutely loves. He hand washes it, cleans it every weekend and refuses to take it to an automatic car wash. He's not really a car guy, but I swear he almost tears up when it gets a scratch!
YES! I got him a mustang grooms cake. We are also taking mustangs instead of a limo. We have 3 mustangs and there will be 4 people in each (from bridal party)...
It should be fun!
Ohhhh my gosh, other bees know what I go through! I just got a super "You guys will get it" vibe. Hahah.
FI is DEFINITELY a "car guy." He is also a Chevy and Dale Earnhardt Jr guy as well.
He has his degree in Automotive Technology and has been working on cars literally (legally) since he was 15. He did his first oil change at like, 7. Lol. He wants to eventually own his own shop.
We are using his grandfather's 1930 Ford for our "going away" car because it's AWESOME. He has a numbers-matching 1968 Pontiac Tempest that is his current project car. Only has 62,000 miles on it. He's planning on building a second garage in our backyard. He also has a drag truck that he races (an '83 Chevy), a cavalier, and a daily Chevy truck.
For a wedding present, he's going to rebuild a 1968 Camaro for me. :) However I want it. Granted, this present may take a bit past the wedding date. Haha.
Benefit to marrying a car guy: He enjoys detailing, so my car gets detailed quite often.
Oh and another way we're incorporating his love of cars into the wedding is his groom's cake. He's making (he also worked at a bakery) two replicas of the number 3 and 88 cars. One will be sugar free. I think it's cool.
My FI loves cars.. like absolutely loves them! He has about 3 old cars that he works on constantly. They don't run, but he has fun working on them. It's kind of annoying. :) We used his friends old porsche as the getaway car. And one of his cakes (yes he had 5 of them) had his old Jeep on it!!!
We were going to use this as our cake topper because he is a mechanic.

He is always on car/motorcycle message boards. I try to be interested, and you would think I would know more since I grew up in a shop with my dad pretty much. It's a work in progress. We used to go to local car meets all the time, and FI used to be the co-admin of a locak car forum. I can't get away from car lovers.
@chittychittybanebane: We are using my FFIL's mustang as well! Just trying to decide on which one. What year(s) are you guys driving?
These are my FFIL's 3. :)
@Soon2bSuttle: we have 2 2011 brand new black ones..and one 2004 maybe? My FI is working on a 66 and 84, but both not nice enough or ready enough to be in the wedding. lol . those are nice!!!!
@ama0219: Haha priceless! I will tell my FI we're using that if he talks too much about Jeeps....
@chittychittybanebane: Oh my FI would be so jealous. He works at a Ford Dealership and drives the new Shelby on their lot whenever he can (which is not enough since they are rare to come buy).
Mine! We just bought him a luxury car (Infiniti) to put into his collection of muscle cars (Chevy). He just sold his Chevelle and before I can even get this wedding paid for he is wanting to purchase an older Corvette and fix it up. This guy!!!! :P

Well my man loves his car! For those of you not into them so much, car guys have like a community or second family. Fi has a Subaru and we work on it together and actually got engaged in it ;) Does anyone else have a man that is car crazy and if so are you incorporating it in your wedding at all?
