I am making my own cupcakes, I really love the frosting that Walmart uses for theirs. Its the whipped kind, but I am not sure what kind of frosting that is? Does anyone have a good recipe to duplicate it?

Can you be more specific? Do you want a buttercream frosting, a cream cheese frosting, rich chocolate ganache, chocolate fudge type frosting, etc?

Don’t know if it is “the same” as what Walmart uses, but my Grandma swore by this one (and it is my personal favorite, not as hard to make as the recipe might make it seem at first glance, the key is to really let the milk/cornstarch cool completely!):
Whipped Cream Icing
Combine, cook over low heat or in double boiler until thick, then cool completely
5T white shortening
Cream copletely until sugar is no longer grainy
Soften 1/4 lb margarine or butter, add to sugar mixture and cream until very smooth and almost white. Add cornstarch mixture and 1 t vanilla. Beat until it looks like whipped cream.

I am not sure what kind of frosting it is. Its whipped and sweet. I am not sure if its Buttercream or just Whipped Frosting…

For a good sweet vanilla frosting, whip 1 stick of butter, softened, in the bowl of an electric mixer with confectioner’s sugar. Heat up a cup of milk and add it in slowly, until frosting reaches desired consistency. Add one tablespoon of vanilla.
That’s my simplest recipe, but a classic!

This may not be at all what you’re looking for, but it’s my all time favorite frosting, and I want to share it. 🙂
Only, I use regular (salted) butter and leave out the sea salt, and I usually end up swapping the vanilla for almond extract (but it’s delicious either way!)

This is my absolute favorite recipe, in fact I just used it last Saturday.
White Chocolate Buttercream
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
12 ounces white chocolate, melted and cooled slightly
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
In mixer (or with hand mixer) beat the butter at on high until creamy/fluffy. Beat in the melted white chocolate. Add the confectioners’ sugar and vanilla and beat at low speed, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl, then let it go on high again until thick and fluffy.

So funny you should ask this! Over the weekend I made a recipe called “The best frosting I’ve ever tasted” lol. It was from Tasty Kitchen via The Pioneer Woman and I must admit….. it WAS the best! pretty easy too.
Stir 5 tablespoons flour into 1 cup of milk and put over medium heat in a sauce pan, whisking continuously. When it gets really thick take it off the heat and let it cool COMPLETELY (seriously, i went to go take a shower after this step). When its totally cool stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup butter, and beat with a blender. When the sugar/butter is combined, pour the cool milk mix into it and whip pretty hard for about 45 seconds-1 minute. It will start to look like really thick whipped cream, that is when you stop.
It was SO good. My FI said it tasted like vanilla ice cream. The best part (imo) is that I already had everything in my house for it so I didn’t have to buy anything special.

My go to frosting for cupcakes, brownies, etc. is super easy. I just mix whipped cream cheese with marshmallow fluff and it makes a really yummy but not overpowering frosting. It’s good with fresh berries on top. 🙂
