(Closed) Anyone have a issue with losing last 10-15 pounds post partum?

I gained 35 pounds while pregnant, and it did NOT come off easy. I was barely eating anything all day long and two months post partum I still had around 15-20 pounds to lose. I remember crying on the floor about how fat I was. Going back to work after 10 weeks helped a lot, and I started losing around a 1-2 pounds a week. When I was 4 months post partum, my weight loss had just come to a standstill and I was 5 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight and a whole lot thicker than pre preg. I joined myfitness pal and logged everything I ate and stuck to 1200 calories a day. I’d jump on the treadmill at night and do sprints (1 min running, two minutes speedwalking, for around 20 min total). I am now 7 pounds below my pre preg weight and my baby is a little over 10 months old.

Something that helped immensely was giving up bread and limiting cereal to 1-2 bowls a week, and also not buying any more snack crackers. Those items all pack a LOT of calories.

Give yourself time. Your body went through a major change. I am still working off the effects my pregnancy had on my butt.

Some people hold on to some of the weight until they are done breast feeding too. It sounds like you are kicking butt with the workouts though.

@ieatunicorns:  I have heard this as well…..that the last 10ish pounds won’t drop off until the baby weans.  

OP, you’re doing a great job! Hide that scale and just keep your eye on the horizon and you’ll get there.  Inches are always more important than pounds.

You also might benefit from increasing healthy fats in your diet, like avocado, flax seeds, fish etc.  And increasing protein….that’s one change I’ve made recently and that alone has made a difference, for me at least.  Protein at breakfast is super helpful.

Same here! My baby is almost 8 months and I have trouble with the last 10 pounds. I work out 5-6 days/week, with running, cycling and various strength workouts, and I eat good food… But I guess I have to cut back even more if I want it to come off… As of yesterday, I am cutting in my carb intake and only taking vegetables as snacks; I am slowly weaning my baby as well, since he now has teeth and I need to become fertile again… Let’s hope I can lose the 10 pounds before getting pregnant again!

I hope you let us know of your progress, as I am in the same boat and would like to see how it’s going for you.
