My MOH just dropped out this weekend. Look at my previous threads if you want. I’m extremely hurt, have actually been crying today, and she ended the friendship as well. 3 months before my wedding. It’s killing me.

@ShabbyChicBee:  The odd thing is… right after I posted this she texted me apologizing for the hurtful things she has said and wants me to meet her boyfriend (previous threads explain this) and give it a chance. Oi vey.

It would seriously depend on the situation.  If it were for financial/health/family emergency(death)/moving or something else similar, I would understand.  Life is full of unexpected things, and expecting people to drop everything for your wedding, or put their life on hold just for your wedding day, is a bit unrealistic.

@ShabbyChicBee:  My very best friend since I was little is my MOH. She just found out she is pregnant and due at the end of August – my wedding is the second week of September. My heart is SO happy she is pregnant, yet I can’t stop thinking about how sad I am that the person I was closest to my whole life possibly won’t be there.. She lives in NY and would be flying to Colorado. I just don’t think it’s going to happen with a newborn.

For someone who is losing a MOH and a friendship, I would recommend letting things cool down after the wedding if she truly does not participate and see what happens. Weddings bring out the worst or the best in people. Best of luck!

My MOH may drop out depending on cost since I am having a DW, but I think I will help pay for her trip and hotel, I don’t want her to drop out bc I want her there for my big day!

My MOH didn’t drop out, but she wasn’t really there for me – even refused to toast at the wedding.  Come to find out her and my brother were having some serious marital issues that they didn’t tell anyone about at the time.  We’re still friends – she’s my SIL.  Though, I was ticked for a good long time about it.
