A friend of mine recently got engaged and has a Moissanite ring. Has anyone ever heard of this type of ring? Does anyone have any pictures of their Moissanite ring?
Hers looked just like a diamond. In fact, if she hadn’t told me I would’ve thought it was one.
Just wondering what other people have to say about Moissanite rings. Do they still look the same after a few years? This seems like it would be a good alternative if you are on a budget (even if you arent, they are stunning) I just wanted to get thoughts before I looked into them further!

If you search moissanite on this site and youtube you will find a ton of info. I have an oval and I love it BUT it is not exactly like a diamond cut oval. If you want it to look more like a diamond and pass it off that way stick to the round brilliant in Forever brilliant rather than the fancy cuts although no one questions mine. (In fact one of my girlfriends prefers my ring over others) I went through moissaniteco.com for ours and had a great experience. We are getting my eternity band from there. We went simple with the ring just a classic solitaire 8×6 oval and will be getting the 3.5mm u shaped eternity band. The sparkle is insane!!!! I can private message you pics and a video if you would like.

KaitlynBrooke: I have one! Haven’t had it for long (since December) but they will last forever and will not cloud like CZ does. (Although I’ve heard some better CZs don’t cloud anymore either, idk)
A diamond is pure carbon and a moissanite is pure silicone carbide. The substance was discovered on meteors and has since been recreated in labs.
They sparkle like CRAZY because of the double refraction (diamonds have a single refraction).
I love mine, it’s a 2 ct equivalent (so 8 mm I think?) unenhanced round.
I’ll upload a pic when I get a chance

I have a 1 carat, halo moissy. I’ve had it about three weeks so I can’t speak to how itll hold up but it’s a forever stone, therefore, it should look the same after years of wear. It’s beautiful and I love it; I have no regrets.

Oh I forgot to add it’s forever brilliant and I used moissanite.com. It took them 2.5 weeks to complete the ring.

I have one, along with a diamond. I truly love the moissanite. You should research and look at lots of pictures! Here’s mine in various conditions…it’s an unenhanced 8.5mm (~2.2 ct) OEC moissy with diamond baguettes.

I have one and love it!! The sparkle is outta this world and nobody has questioned it. The girls in the office just grab my hand to ooh and ahh over it every time they walk past my desk 🙂
Mine is a 2ct equivalent Amora (Mira) Moissanite and all I have saved on this computer is a bad picture taken with my iPhone but I’ll upload one when I get home!!!

There are a ton of moissanite related threads on this site. I suggest you use the search feature if you want to see more.
For what it’s worth, though, I have a 1ct unenhanced round brilliant moissanite. It’s beautiful and I love it. It’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for something a white stone that doesn’t look exactly like a diamond but is more durable than a sapphire.

We ordered a loose moissanite and I just saw it for the first time a couple days ago. It’s so beautiful! I have a 6mm (.75 ct equivalent) unenhanced OEC. I couldn’t stop looking at it and I can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s set!

KaitlynBrooke: Ha ha, you must be new here! Moissy is a HUGE topic on the Bee and many people hear of it here first. I know I did.
I’ve got a Moissy and I LOVE it. It’s stunning. No one has ever guessed that it wasn’t a diamond, although I do mention it if it comes up – I’m actually pretty proud of choosing a moissy, but it’s just not the kind of conversation I have often.
You are absolutely right that they are a great option for those on the a budget or for those who don’t care to spend the money for a diamond, regardless of being able to afford it. The primary downside I find to moissy is that it’s harder to find super intracate setting that use them (think Taccori, real pave, etc). But other than that, they are a fantasic option.
