I'm having a destination wedding in Mexico and not sure about my favors as well...What did other destination wedding brides do?
We donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of my deceased father. We designed cards that matched our theme and placed them at each table. They were appreciated and I didn't have to carry a ton of stuff to our destination.
i had a destination wedding on the beach in the Outer Banks, we did Koozies and personalized Jones Soda,
I also found this great website for personalized fortune-cookies that are shaped like seashells, called Shuckies. I'm pretty sure I saw a Bee had them on her blog... http://www.shuckie.com/whatisashuckie.html
I bought little chocolates in the shape of shells and put them in a pretty organza bag. You can see the pics on my profile.
We're thinking of doing sky lanterns... They can choose to make a wish, light it up, and release it there; or take it home. It's not traditional, but we think it will be fun, make for pretty pictures; and we don't have to worry about the difficulties with transport or getting food-related items into the country!

Oh my gosh those Shuckies are SO cute! I wish I was having a beach wedding now. :-(
That sunscreen idea is fantastic - I would love that, as a guest, LOL
There are also these that can dubb as their be their escort card as well as favor...

@serasvictoria -- AREN'T THEY AMAZING!?!? I discovered them too late to get them... :(
Love the beach wedding theme...
we're making bags of starfish and sand dollar chocolates for every other place setting...
and alternating it with these wine corks...
Have you seen these Beach Candy Apples? I haven't seen anyone do anything like that. It definitely looks "beachy"
Found them at PlatinumGoodies.com

I am attending a wedding this weekend at the beach and they are doing small jars of sea salt as favors.
I like the sunscreen idea, maybe with a personalized label.
If you're looking for an honest opinion, I think the beach theme is so common, and the favors available on various websites are very similar and always predictable. Since I'm always looking for unique ideas, I would steer clear of favor websites if I was going beach-themed. I think the sunscreen idea is unique, and actually useful. (not trying to sound snarky, re: threads from yesterday)
Thanks so much everyone for your input and help. I love the honesty and advice. It's given me a lot to think about.
