I did this for my wedding. I had all my hair down in loose/waves curls and I just popped the comb of my veil in the back, quick spritz of hairspray and it didn't move or slide out all day :). I wore my veil until 8.30 that night and I didn't have any volume or back combing to that section of my hair at all. I have no pictures because I'm at work but I'll post some tonight.
@skyeatnight: Oh, that would be great if you could post pictures later! It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you SO much!

clearly that is not me but in my dreams that is my husband lol
is that the sort of thing you ment I dont think you will need much volume unliss ure hair is very fine
@Breathless: LOL! For a second I was like wow, that chick looks a lot like Jennifer Aniston! Bahahahaha...
Anyways, I have been thinking about doing the same exact thing OP.. I hope you get more responses!
I wore a mantilla with my hair down. Pictures are here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/11/16/champ-wedding-the-ceremony/#more-118305
I actually had to get my seamstress to alter the veil a little bit because it was poofing when I wore it high like I wanted to wear it. You can always ask your seamstress and see what she thinks.
Good luck:)
I would love to have my hair down for the big day but I have an awful fear that it's all going to fall out by the end of the night. My hair isn't that pretty.. I don't think I'll be able to pull it off :/
Thanks everyone! Yes, that is exactly what I'm talking about.
@mschampagne: How is the veil staying on your head - with a comb? That's exactly what I want it to look like... you were stunning!
I have exactly what you are looking for. I wore my hair in loose curls. I had a simple fingertip length veil. You dont need volume on top. They pin it in.

@mschampagne: Amazing! so beautiful! How did you get your mantilla to stay?!
here is one of my bridal portraits :) hair down with a headband and a veil :)
@Breathless: LOL!
I'm curious about getting the comb to stay in too, b/c I decided to just wear it 1/4 up (not totally half-up)... and I would have loved to do all down....
Mine was attached to a comb.. you can always have your seamstress do that for you as well:)
Here is a couple photos with my hair down, hope they give you an idea of what you want.
I have so much hair I actually decided against it as I don't want to deal with it all day.

Thanks everyone! This is exactly what I was looking for. My veil is actually already on a metal comb. I'm not really sure why she was saying I'd need some poof going on, but I will just tell her no, lol.
You all looked gorgeous!
mine was attached to a plastic comb. If you're just wearing for the ceremony, it shouldn't slide too much, unless your hair is super fine. Then it may be a good idea for her to tease it a little behind the comb to hold it in.

Hi Everyone,
I'm wearing my hair down in loose curls for the wedding (I HATE my hair up, or even half up). I also want to wear a veil, just for the ceremony. Since I'm not doing an updo, or even wearing it half up, clearly I have to wear the veil somewhat on the top of my head. I just don't want it to be poofy! My veil is a very plain, single-layer, fingertip length veil.
Does anyone have pictures of the same style? I'm terrified that it's going to look poofy (had my hair trial but didn't have the veil), and my hairdresser said I'll need some sort of volume at the top of my head so that the veil doesn't just slide off.
