I'm doing teal too, and i agree i cant find much. my color is more like that last picture, more greeny/blue than just an aqua/blue teal.
@melbaby1009: Are you having a hard time finding decorations in yourgreeny/blue colour as well? Where did you find your bridesmaid dresses?
Teal is such a hard color, everyone seems to have their won idea of what teal is.
I'm using teal as a wedding color but using it as an accent color. I'm also using dark orange and deep red. Those will be the main colors.
I got so lucky, my future MIL had 2 huge rolls of teal ribbon in the color I needed. So I'll use ribbon to accent anything that needs a splash of teal.
I would be one happy girl if I could find some teal shoes to match the color of the teal ribbon.
I agree that teal has been VERY hard to find.....at least within MY budget.
My colors are burgundy, teal blue, plum, and gray. It's been very hard for me to find teal blue things as everyone's version of teal is different.
To me, there are two different types of teal. Teal blue (more blue) and teal green (more green). I wanted something more teal blue as my FI's favorite color is blue and we compromised to include by using teal blue (plus I have a peacock theme going as well)
My MOH is wearing a teal blue. I couldn't find any teal blue chargers, so I'll be spraypainting the ones that I have into the teal blue color I want. The programs will be teal blue (haven't bought it yet, but I'm trying to infuse the color into the scheme more). The gems in the centerpieces will be teal blue.
@Asparagus: Oh that is lucky your MIL had teal ribbon for you!
@YSQueen: I totally agree with your comment about the two different types of teal! That's the problem! I LOVE tealy blue, but everywhere I look, there only seems to be tealy green. :S
I'm doing aqua and that is not too bad. I've seen teal under the color Peacock too. I think teal does not have to be matchy, mactchy. It would make it more interesting with the variations in colors as long as groups where in the same colors. For example table cloths, candles, ribbon, etc.
I'm having the same issues with Teal. The shade I want is a lot less saturated than what you have, but the problems are the same.
I found this shade I like on Dessy for my BM's, they're Alfred Sung
I also found some paper lanterns in close to the right shade.

I think I'm going to end up making red the main color with teal as just BM's and some accents in various shades that are close! Hoping it looks ok.
@MsFarmer: I havent really even thought about what i'm going to do for the decorations but i know its not going to be easy.
This is my bridesmaid dress.

Only it will be in this color, and that brown sash will be ivory.
I found them at the store that I'm getting my wedding dress from.
Heres the link to the designers website. www.impressionbridal.com
@MrsFarmer: I'm not having teal but am having tiffany blue and that can cause problems. Some people call teal a green, some call it blue, jade, turquoise etc. I totally know where you're coming from. Good luck with the rest of your planning fellow June bee
I'm having so much trouble finding teal!!!!!!!!!!! I see a lot of the Jade shade but the shade that we're looking for is exactly the same as your color and its really frustrating.
I did teal, it was definitely a challenge. I wanted teal-blue, like the ribbon shown below, but ended up with a brighter color - Express happened to have affordable cotton sateen dresses last spring in "bali," maybe they'll have more this spring. "Bali" is very similar to the standard "teal" linens offered by Classic Party Rentals if anyone is using them.
I have a ton of teal and white satin ribbon leftover (4 big rolls, teal 1.5" + 7/8", white 1.5" + 7/8") that any of you are welcome to have for the price of shipping, I would love for it just to get used :) Or pick up for free in San Francisco.

I did a teal and claret wedding in December of 2009. I used teal dresses from Alfred Angelo, bought teal heels from DSW.com (brand: madden girl), and had teal fabric for some accents from a local fabric shop. For me, the hardest part was finding the teal heels, but it all looked great and came together nicely. It was a small, not quite Christmas-y wedding. PM me if you want pics.
Thank you so much for all the comments, suggestions, and offers. :) You guys are great!
@cincity75: I've been to one teal wedding before. It wasn't matchy-matchy but it did look really good. I'm kind of obsessive about the colour matching thing, but maybe I will just have to learn to let go!
@kala_way: I love your bridesmaid dress! Dessy does have a really nice teal colour too. I remember running across it when I was looking for teal BM dresses. I also liked how you can order swatches of their Pantone colours so that you can take them along with you to your vendors!
@melbaby1009: Pretty! I love your the teal/brown combo too!!
@Prewitt: You're totally right--everyone has a slightly different definition of each colour. Good luck to you as well June Bee! Five months to go!!
@Running Elley: I know it doesn't help but it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one having trouble with this colour! But I seriously love this colour so much that I will even sew table runners if I have to--and I am not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination!!
@berkbride: What an awesome offer! You are one sweet Bee! I would be more than glad to pay shipping if you wouldn't mind sending to Canada!
@maisymay: I would LOVE to see pics, especially of your teal heels!
My colors are teal and ivory with accent of metallic gold. I started with the color fabric used for my BM dresses. In person it leans more toward green than blue.

It is a dark teal silk dupioni and very hard to match.I found cardstock for my inivtes and have been able to find ribbon, but I agree not all teals are alike. I did however find candles that matched EXACTLY this weekend at Hobby Lobby. So now I will have to keep stalking inventory. LOL
My mom is wearing turquoise and we are using peacock feathers for decor. What little flowers we use will probably be more in the green family.
Glad to see others are struggling too. :)
@DeaconBride: That looks like beautiful material! Good find at Hobby Lobby! I think that I will have to get out and prowl all the stores I can think of for decor!!
@MsFarmer: My FI laughs at me because I carry the swatch with me at ALL times and hit every craft store at least once a week,
I think if the colors are not dead on for decor, it will be fine. Or you can concentrate on your accent color for decor. Most of my centerpieces will be a mix of gold and teal. The men's vests are a pattern instead of a solid because we could not get an exact match.
I'm so married to the color and although frustrating, I love it. Jsut keep plugging away. What ever you come up with will be beautiful.
I originally started with the idea of using teal, and also found it terribly difficult to find matching shades... I also realized that I was leaning more towards a turquoise over a teal (more blue tones). The tricky thing is that there is no plain "teal" or "turquoise" in the wedding world.. it's all "oasis" or "pacific blue" or "caribbean". Super annoying.
I agree that it doesn't have to be all matchy matchy, but you at least want to keep it focused to either a green based teal or blue based teal, since, as you said, everyone has their own version. I really like Dessy's options the best, in terms of dresses.
PS. Your top picture is one of my inspiration pictures too!
Hey there, I hope it's not too late and you are still using teal. I am using the same oasis color for my wedding in July. I had a friend use that color for her wedding this past summer and let me in on some of her secrets.
-If you continue to go with David's bridal and use their Oasis color then Men's Warehouse offers the exact match to that color still called Oasis for the men
-There is ribbon at Michaels that matches perfectly to that oasis color, they have skinny, wide and super wide....I believe they even sell tulle that color too.
** I do recommend paying the dollar it is to get a color swatch so that you can take it around with you when you go places. I can't count how many times I bought something and had to take it back because I thought it was the right color and wasn't. Try to pick an accent color that is a little easier to find, like mine is orange. That way you can find as many things in teal and what you can find you can use the other color. Or even just sticking with the color of your dress (ivory or white) for your 3 color.
Good luck!!! =)
Good advise! I am doing Teal, Ivory, and Hot Pink for my wedding in september. I agree - I got a sample of the fabric of my BM dresses and I keep it in my purse - I got about a 6 inch sample and I am down to abuot 3 inches after giving some to the florist, cake, invites etc. I took my sample to Joann Fabric and I found a ribbon that matches perfectly. I am having troubles finding teal anything - tablecloths, napkins ets so I think I am going to do Ivory Tablecloths with teal napkins - I have found some. For my centerpieces, I encorperated Teal by using ribbon but it has mostly pink in it. I think that I will be able to find some teal napkins some day...Another way I got teal into the mix is with my cake. I am doing cupcakes but the baker seems to think that she can match my swatch perfectly so I am going to have teal frosting on my cupcakes with a white monogram. Flowers was the worst. Thats how I came up with pink because you can not get any flower in teal so I went with the pink stargazer lillies.
I am so glad I'm not the only one having this issue!! I originally wanted to do Pink and Green for my wedding, because those are my absolute favorite colors, but since I'm getting married in September, some people thought those colors were too summery. So then I went on to a sapphire blue color and green, but couldn't find the right shade of blue! I finally eneded up going with teal for my BM dresses with a "cactus" green sash. The teal is almost exactly like "tealness" from Alfred Angelo. The only problem is...I can't find ANYTHING to match either the teal or the shade of green! Majority of my decor for my reception/flowers/etc. is green (more of a light lime green) even though my girls dresses are teal, I could care less because I LOVEEE green!! HAHA! I just wish I could find more teal to match in order to accent so that I tie it in somehow!! As of now...we are planning on spraying white roses with teal tips for my centerpieces and I did buy a "teal" table runner...not my exact shade, but close enough. I also bought a few teal demask photo frames to set various places to add another splash of teal. Any advice on where to find this shade of teal in other decor is greatly appreciated!! ;) It's just so nice to find out that I'm not the only person with this problem!!!
I am having a Teal and Orange wedding, and somehow I feel like orange is taking over! it seems much easier to come by especially when it comes to florals.
I am making due though... my FMIL is making the BM dresses out of the color I scoured the earth to find, and THANK GOD it matched what Men's warehouse's version of Oasis. (my groom is now refusing to wear that color but that is another story). oh and napkins I found in teal, other than that everythign seems to be turning orage right before my eyes... I would love some new ways to get Teal back as the focus!
I'm in the teal boat, so pretty, but so hard to find 'your' teal! We went with teal BM dresses from Lulu's and I think that's about the only place we're gonna have it cause it's so hard to match!

Hive, I'm just in the preliminary stages of finding BM dresses, tuxes, reception decor, etc. but as I begin looking, it seems that I'm going to have trouble finding teal decor (tulle, ribbon, etc) in the right shade. Everyone's definition of teal is SO different!
I was at Moore's looking at the vest colours and I was very surprised to find that the Oasis teal colour looked nothing like it did online--not even close! Moore's also had another vest in more of a Jade green colour and from my preliminary search, I think that this jade colour would be a lot easier to match. (If you can't already tell, I'm kind of Type-A about everything matching or at least being very close to the same colour!)
So any brides out there who have done a teal wedding? Did you have trouble finding matching decor in the same shades? Any sources you can recommend to me? Or should I just suck it up and make it a lot easier on myself by changing to more of a Jade colour?
I'm attaching some of my teal inspiration pics as well as some of the more Jade colour so you can see the difference. My current plan is teal with brown, white, and gold accents (but mostly brown and white).
