I don't have it, but I am a physical therapist who treats women with these kinds of issues. I would suggest getting a refferal for a women's health PT to see if they could help you out! Good luck!
I was finally diagnosed with vulvodynia about a year and a half ago. Even in NYC, it took me about a year to find a doctor who specializes in pelvic pain (and that my insurance will cover!) and after a few tries with different treatments, it looks like a hymenectomy and then PT is in my near future. I just have to get the courage to go through with it!
It is really tough on the relationship, but much better now that we know that the pain is not because I am anxious or not interested. I think that it is great that you brought it up on this board.
I really recommend finding someone who understands the emotional toll that this condition takes on an individual and partner. If you are near NYC, this is the link to the doctor I have been seeing:
@PancakesPopcorn: Glad to hear I'm not alone!
I'm just now trying lidocaine. It works OK, but doesn't numb everything unfortunately. (Ha! it's so funny that sex would be WAAAAAY better if I couldn't feel my vulva. Pretty sure that's not the case for most other people). I also have bladder problems, so I'm familiar with the pelvic pain. I'm starting PT in a few weeks, though the doc didn't seem to think my pelvic muscles were all that tight. Hopefully it will just help calm the nerves and such before sex.
It is a relief to know that you aren't just "doing it wrong." It does amaze me how long it took for me to get diagnosed. I spent soooo many hours googling "pain after sex" and "burning after sex" and all I would come up with was "it's normal! it's fine! it'll go away after a few times!" and planned parenthood told me my Vulvodynia was a yeast infection and my bladder condition (interstitial cystitis) was a UTI.
I kinda want to skip straight to the surgery, to be honest. I don't care about the complications, not feeling anything (worst case scenario) sounds way better than being miserable every time.
Unfortunately I'm nowhere near NY. I live in Montana. Not a whole lot of specialists of anything here!

Just curious - I was just diagnosed with it. I'm not terribly surprised because I already have interstitial cystitis and so sex is already painful, lol. But wondering if anyone else did too.
