No cute names, but we’re having three — all “signature” summer drinks: gin & tonics made with our favorite gin, which is bottled in Philly; mojitos; and white sangria (which I blogged about) using the recipe from one of our favorite Philly restaurants!

I want to do the “Somethings” as our drink names because UV+Lemonade is my favorite summertime drink. Something borrowed might be a Mike’s hard lemonade recipe, Something old could be FH’s favorite and Something new could be sangria..I’ve always wanted to try it!

After all the blogs and wedding mags we were thinking about it, until I talked to my brother and his wife. They did it (made sure for the ingredients and made signs and names etc) and said it was the biggest waste of time and effort (and money since they had to pay the bar tab for the liqour bought for it).  So we scraped it and no one ever missed a thing.

I am! If you serve it as passed drink during the cocktail hour (depending on what type of wedding you are having) people will definitely drink it.  Many of my friends have had it (I’ve made the mix!) and it’s been a bit hit!

Ours is “The Green Fairy”.  We randomly have a huge absinthe collection and the real liquor is often referred to as The Green Fairy. One of my groomsmen has this amazing recipe for a green tea cocktail so there you have it!  Obviously there is no absinthe in it!

I also love the “his” and “her” cocktails – they are adorable!

We had peach black raspberry peach martinis–peach schnapps, black raspberry liquor, vodka, splash of sprite…

And a blueberry passionfruit fizz–blueberry passion fruit liquor with sprite and vodka.

We had a signature drink because our venue offered us a lower price for everyone who ordered that (30 cents cheaper…doesn’t sound like a lot but we had an open bar so it actually saved us a good amount of money).

We chose ceasars as our drink because we both really like them and knew that many of our guests like them and would order those. Maybe that’s the wrong way to look at it (as a money saving exercise), but that’s the truth.
