So our wedding (rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, and reception) is going to be held on my mom’s farm. This was my first choice because I wanted to be able to plan every detail exactly how we want it.
Everything is starting to come together (finally!) but its a HUGE job and takes up a ton of time. Its also soo much fun!
Just curious – are any of you having your wedding at home? How is it going for you??

I am having my wedding at home! In my parent’s backyard to be exact. I like it because it’ll be smallish and intimate. We don’t need an officiant because we are already married (visa reasons), so we really do get to control every little detail right down to the ceremony. My hubby is English and my friends and family don’t really know him well because we met and live abroad, so it’ll also be a nice little “Welcome to America, welcome to the family, welcome to Kristin’s whole other life” type of party too. I like that I don’t need a million vendors too! It’s going very well and I am enjoying the freedom of not being attached so much to the wedding industry. I do love to look on Style Me Pretty and drool over the forrest weddings in particular. If I could have my wedding anywhere else it would definitely be up in the mountains a la Mrs. Espresso!
The only real con, I’ve found, to having an at-home-wedding is that it’s easier to procrastinate because I don’t have tons of vendors/deposits- no churches, no ballrooms, no food staff that’s been paid as a kind of reminder that things need to get done!

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
Yes, and it’s a big pain in the butt, but a pain in the butt that will be worth it.

We are – at my parents’ place. It’s great – I like not having to deal with tons of people (vendors) we don’t know and my parents have been really supportive!

Yep! we are having our very small wedding (40 people max.) in my parents house. It’s really an ideal space — they have a large house, floor to ceiling windows, high ceilings, neutral colored walls, hard wood floors, and we are moving all of the furniture out of the main level for the wedding.
It’s saving us a ton of money, and I think it will end up being such a memorable, intimate, fun event. 🙂

It’s being held at cousin’s house, and the biggest fear is rain! We can have a tent brought in if we have to, but the whole decor plan will have to change if we do. Scared about that.
