I looked into Mosaic Space a few months ago; at the time they were right in the middle of changing management or event coordinators or SOMETHING. I heard (and now I don't remember where - another bride's review somewhere) that the old coordinator was really hard to work with, and when I emailed to request info I never heard back.
I'm pretty picky about who I'll work with, so that one strike was enough for me to axe them from my list, BUT that was in the middle of a transition, from what I understood.
I would definitely say give them a call, check it out if you're in the area. On their website, the space looks great! There's a TON you could do with it!
I just checked out their website for the first time in months, and it has TOTALLY TRANSFORMED! http://mosaicspace.com/
I really think you should check it out!
Also, welcome to Weddingbee!!!
Funny you should ask...I'm actually going there this afternoon for a site visit. If I get any useful information, I'll pass it along! :)
I went to a wedding at Grand Volute a year or two ago, and it was gorgeous. But, as you said, it was definitely a much more formal feeling. But, the space itself was wonderful...and the staircase in the ballroom is perfect for the bridal party entrance!
I work with Mosaic Space and would encourage you to contact me (service@mosaicspace.com) if you're interested in a free consultation. We're flattered to be worthy of your consideration!
I actually don't live in Michigan, but I'm getting married in GR. I went to this place and there were 2 sisters that manage/own it. Very pleasant personalities and helpful. The place is not bad. I wasn't a big fan of the entrance and the building itself, but inside it looks pretty decent if that is the look you are going for. The main reason we are not going with mosaic space is because it is not big enough for 250ppl.
I've been to both.
I really liked Mosiac Space's atmosphere and everything. It was just too small for us. *At the time we were thinking we were going to have like 175-200 guests* But i would definitely give them a call, because I thought it was gorgeous.
Grand Volute is where we are having our wedding and I have had nothing but a wonderful experience there. It is more formal than the Mosiac Space, but it is extremely beautiful and has a lot of space. Mary Ellen has been great to work with too, so it is always worth looking at. I think it just depends on what mood you are wanting for your wedding.
For us it was perfect because we wanted to have a lot of space, a great time, lots of dancing and laughing, and the ballroom is beautiful which makes me feel like I am going to a ball!

Hey girls,
I was just wondering if anyone has hear anything about the "Mosaic Space" in downtown GR off of Division? I think its a pretty new space. Its very laid back atmosphere and its much closer to the "feel" my fiance are going for as opposed to a very formal ballroom atmosphere which is what we have been leaning towards until I found this place. I haven't heard anything about it (good or bad) so I was wondering if anyone knew of wedding receptions that have occurred here and the experience they had.
The other location I am looking at is in Lowell, MI (just east of Grand Rapids next to Ada, MI) and its called Grand Volute. Its beautiful and much more formal feel because its a ballroom. Anyone had any experience with Grand Volute (good or bad). Thanks!
We are touring in early february so I'll let you know how it goes, but I would really appreciate any outside opinions so I can get the truth.
