I’ve been blogging for several months now on Tumblr and have a pretty solid following, but have noticed the platform isn’t exactly what I want. Tumblr is more gifs and blurbs, whereas I’m posting posts that are several paragraphs in length or outlining a recipe.
Does anyone here blog successfully? I have considered starting a new blog and managing both, however I don’t want to necessarily commit to buying and hosting a domain. I don’t want to pay $5 a month for something that may or may not end up making money.

@IowaDDS13: Every month at the beginning of the month WeddingBee has a thread where all bloggers can list their blog. You could use that to connect with some of the blogging Bees.

I do! I do! I use WordPress for my blog from graduate school. I used it as a form of outreach for my marine biology thesis research. WordPress is free to use, but you have the option of purchasing the domain name to take .wordpress out of the address. For example, my blog is Voice from the Sea at http://www.voicefromthesea.wordpress.com. If I purchased the domain, the address would shorten to http://www.voicefromthesea.com. Feel free to check out the blog if you want!
I’m a freelance writer and am currently consulting with a couple potential new clients about starting or blog campaigns, and if they’re starting a blog from scratch, I recommend WordPress wholeheartedly. It’s got a lot of template options, and if you have someone who knows CSS, you can take the templates and completely customize them to your exact needs.

I use wordpress also. I am an amazon affiliate so that usually takes care of my fees that I pay for a few extras that I have. I also spent some money having mine designed by a web designer I know, but that was cheap.
