It's a huge possibility that you may have IC. I actually thought I had IC since my last UTI results kept coming back negative and no one would treat me.
Your best bet is to go a urologist (or another one if you've been to one already). They will help guide you and run tests. Also, there's a diet you can follow to help symptoms of IC lessen/disappear.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you feel better soon. I know how irritating and frustrating it must be not to feel better. I cried after two weeks.
@MissPumpkinPie:yeah I've been feeling these symptoms for the last four months. It definitely grates on your strength. My UTI tests kept coming back negative, too, but in the office, before they took samples, they thought it was one, but every sample came back negative.
@MissPumpkinPie:yes ma'am, I believe three different kinds. The first two times for a UTi and the second time a vaginal infection
@SweetRose2011: Yikes. :( I'm sorry to hear nothing is working. Do you drink a lot of soda, coffee, and, alcohol. Could contribute to your symptoms - especially if an infection was never fully cleared. But then again I would think you'd have a kidney infection by now. Did anyone ever rule out bladder stones?
@MissPumpkinPie:They did an ultra sound on my bladder and didn't say anything about the results. I do drink a lot of coffee and sometimes alcohol. It's really hard because I work in a coffee shop. I try not to drink too much because I'm hyperactive as it is.
@SweetRose2011: Hmph. Sounds like there's definitely a lot of unanswered questions. I wish I had an answer or even a miracle cure for you! Hopefully some other bees on here can help you out a bit.
The lower back pain kind of has me concerned. I have a family full of bladder, urinary track, and kidney issues. When the lower back starts to hurt that is what usually has the doctors doing further tests. WalMart has a urinary medication that is OTC and it has the slightest bit of anitbiotic in it, sorry, I don't remember the name, but may be helpful to you until you can get back into the doctor. I do think that you should think about going as soon as possible as the back pain usually means something to do with the kidneys and the last thing you want to wait on is a kidney infection.
@tksjewelry:I did tell the doctor one of the last times I was there that I felt that way, and she said she wasn't really worried about kidney stones or an infection.
@SweetRose2011: Which is completely odd considering any sort of infection in the urinary system could definitely affect the kidneys. Grr-rawr. I'm angry for you.
@MissPumpkinPie::) Aww, thanks. I'm just researching a bunch of stuff online and it says hormones can flare it, which makes sense since I'm always in so much pain around the time of my period.
@Eva Peron:I do not smoke, and as far as I know none of this runs in the family. I've told my mother about it and she's not shared anything similar with me, so I don't believe so.
have you ever been checked for endometriosis? I have it in several areas one of which is my bladder and it causes alot of the same symptoms your having, Its worth looking into atleast
@miss sparkly cat:I have not, but that seems reasonable as well, considering that both my mother and her mom had it. My mom had to get her uterus removed actually.
I would try to get them to check for it and tell them it runs in your family. If you keep showing no infection or anything else I would be willing to bet its endometriosis and while there is no cure other then having everything removed it can be managed, are you on any kind of birth control? going on the pill has helped me alot
Definitely try the gyno route if you haven't already! The endometriosis thing sounds like its related and also a lot of cysts/tumors can push on your bladder and such.
I don't mean to freak you out, its probably something simple! but my grandma thought she was "getting fat" ( some bloating) and it turns out she has a tumor on her ovary, and cervical cancer that has spread into other areas. No Bueno!
I'm so sorry you have to deal with that... I'm pretty sure my FI has it. He doesn't have extreme pain, but a little here and there, but mostly his problem is that he always feels like he has to pee, but not that much comes out when he does. He wakes up a lot at night to go, and it interrupts sex. I try to be as supportive as I can, but he is really frustrated by it. He went to a few urologists and they didn't seen to know what was wrong, and mostly shrugged it off.
Interesting that you asked about this, because only yesterday was a researching his symptoms more and concluded that I think he may have IC. There's a special diet that is supposed to help alleviate some of the symptoms- basically a very low acid diet: no citrus, no caffiene. I also got him an herbal supplement called saw palmetto, which is supposed to help with urinary issues. He's only taken it for one day and hasn't noticed anything yet, but maybe you could try that? There are several medications that people thought to have IC can take, and some people have experienced relief, from what I've read. Shop around for a urologist who takes you and your issues seriously- because from what I understand, many urologists and doctors don't really "believe in" IC because they don't know what causes is and it's just generally not well understood. I hope you can find some relief, and if you do, PM me with any suggestions for FI and I'll do likewise! Good luck!
@miss sparkly cat: I am on the pill and have been for over a year
@Eva Peron: I was just at the gyno in April and then started hurting shortly afterwards, so I would think if I had something then she would've noticed. But I'm sure that's not always the case, so maybe it would be a good idea to go back to her. I've been thinking about it anyways.
@shyviolette:Thank you so much for your help!
they cant find endometriosis just by doing an exam (thats what I was told anyway), when they found mine it was after an MRI for something else when they saw something so they decided to go in a take a sample to be sure. They can assume you have it but actually going in is the only way to be sure. I would go back and let them know everything. Some women with endometriosis and cysts have better luck with the bc shot so if it is cysts or endometriosis you might want to think about giving the shot a chance
I had IC and nobody else in my family ever had it. I only found out recently that it's an autoimmune disease, do definitely go get a bladder biopsy to confirm and follow the diet that a PP suggested. It works. And alcohol and coffee are not on that list, unfortunately:) Go see a urologist and get a definite diagnosis. Mine is completely cured so I think the faster it is diagnosed the better.

Over the past few months I've been in off and on pain in my bladder region. I've been to the doctor many times, and I even tried going to the urologist but he was a douche. At this point, I'm planning on going back to see a different urologist when I can afford to. Hopefully soon. I'm strongly thinking it could be IC since no one has been able to properly diagnose me so far. Do any of you lovely bee's have any issues with IC?
Anyways, since the pain has been so constant, here are some things I've noticed as far as patterns are concerned.
