I'm in Chandler. It's great here in Arizona. What area are you moving too?
Well I'm up in Flag but we go down to Pheonix a lot... I'm pretty sure there are a bunch on phx bees though. All I can really tell you is that you've picked a pretty warm part of the year to move!
We didn't pick it, his company is sending us there on Memorial day weekend. What the heck, right? FI starts work out there on Memorial Day :(
There's so much to do! Downtown Chandler is great for a date night or drinks with friends. Around the mall there are tons of resturants with outside dining( perfect for summer nights). If you like hiking we are surrounded by mountains:).
Where are the bad neighborhoods? Do you have street boundaries for where to stay away from?
Chandler doesn't have a bad neighborhood they're generally in East Mesa, South Phoenix (north of Ahwatukee) or in Apachee Junction.
Welcome to Chandler! We absolutely love it here. Downtown Chandler is great for dinner and/or drinks. Check out the Art Walk on the third Friday of each month.
Yay Chandler! When you get settled in we will have to plan for a Phx meet up in Chandler! Maybe San Tan Brewery or Kokopelli Winery- good stuff!
If you are by the mall, the neighborhoods are fine. I would avoid living in the two blocks directly north of downtown Chandler (like 3 miles east of the mall), but it still isn't too shady compared to other areas of Phx. We live about 3 miles north of downtown and it is just fine, we walk our dog outside at 10pm since it is too hot to do it earlier here in the summer.
Definitely a crummy time to unpack, if you are unloading a truck do it either very early in the morning or very late at night!
@lemondrop I agree, we should totally hit up the Kokopelli Winery to celebrate her arrival!
and of course there is nice little bridal shop right next door to Kokopelli winery. hehe
I would go with the area around Elliott and Alma School but that is just me, it isn't "bad" but not as nice as other areas.
Ok, I'll take the reigns on this one.
Does a Saturday or Sunday afternoon work for everybody? Any preference on a date?
I don't work weekends, so either Sat/Sun would work for me!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I'm moving to the area in one week from the Midwest. (OMG)
Do you guys have any general tips, areas to stay away from, stuff like that? Neither FI nor I have ever even been there, so anything is helpful!
