We went there and the water was more of a blue green than clear. It was still a breath taking sight! The other resorts on the island had  the clear water and white sand. While leaving the resort, we saw how one part of the ocean was blue green and the other part was clear. I thought that was cool. I can’t say how the beach was because I didn’t go too deep. We did ride a speed boat and that was fine.

@Willow1991: Yeah, but I think the entire island is. I loved La Toc! The food was so good, the room was nice (we stayed in the oceanview walk-out by the pool), the people were nice. Plus, if you wanted to stay up late and party, you could. If you didn’t, you could stay in your room. You can also go to the other resorts. We went to the Grande and it was beautiful, but it seemed more like a party all day atmosphere. From what I understood, older people stayed at the other resort (Hayclon sp?).

I’ll be honeymooning at La Toc in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!  We debated between La Toc and Grande, but we wanted more of a relaxed atmosphere for our honeymoon, which Grande doesn’t offer.  As the previous posted said, it is known for it’s much larger crowd and party life.  If you vacation at Sandals St. Lucia, you get the benfit of visiting all three resorts- they’re all very close to one another from what I hear.  So, we plan on going to Grande once or twice.

I didn’t hear about the water being a different color?  I’m a little bummed that it’s not clear in La Toc…I thought it would be.

On another note, I’m excited about the cliffs in St. Lucia!  We are staying in the Romeo & Juliet Penthouse Suite, which is on top of a cliff that has a SPECTACULAR view of the ocean.  As you probably know, other options offer a walk out pool, etc., but we opted for a room high up for a great view in the morning or a romantic dinner in.

I just came back from my Honeymoon at La Toc. We split our time between a La Toc and the Ladera (non sandals).

We visited the Grande 1 day.

Here is my honest opinion.  If the beach is important to you, do not go to la Toc.  The beach at the Grande is beautiful, the water is clear and calm and completely swimable.

At La Toc, the beach is not as pretty as the Grande, and the water is not safe for swimming. Everyday we were there we had a red flag, which meant it wasn’t safe to swim.  It’s very windy on that part of the island so there were a lot of rip currents.

Now I went in June, so I’m not sure if other parts of the year differ much, but my cousin went in March and she had the same expereince (she almost drownded at La Toc).

The Grande is much newer and nicer of a resort compared to La Toc.  We ate at Grande and found the food to be the same as La Toc (delicious).  I guess La Toc is more of a ‘party’ resort, as we went to Grande during the day and the pool was dead, whereas at La toc the pool was the place to be (but this is probably because the beach wasn’t that inviting).

All the couples we met that stayed at the Halycon weren’t pleased, said the water wasn’t that great and mentioned that there were sand fleas.

All in all, our Sandals experience at La Toc was fine, but if we didn’t  split our time to go to The Ladera (look up this resort, it is STUNNING), I probably would’ve been disappointed (after seeing how pretty the beach was at Grande).

If I had to go again to a Sandals in St. Lucia I would choose the Grande.  Hope this helps, PM me if you have any specific questions about La Toc.

@Willow1991:  If you are ok with non-adults only. Check out the Riu Riviera Maya in Mexico..gorgeous resort, great food and great prices =)

EDIT: And the beach is beautiful ( I went there 3 years ago, so hopefully not much has changed)

@Willow1991: I stayed at Sandals Regency La Toc and had an amazing time! I have been to a lot of different caribbean islands so I have stuff to compare it against.  I absolutely loved it.  My boyfriend (now fiance) and I went for a week, had a beautiful room, enjoyed tons of drinks and met a lot of other newlyweds.. The resort being adults only was really nice, the food was good when we went..Pretty much the same quality of food you will get from ANY All inclusive resort.  The water was absolutely beautiful.  The resort is nice as in it gives you the option to check out other sandals on the islands by supplying a free shuttle that runs all day.  I would recommend going, you will definitely NOT be disappointed if you go!!
