So my reception is at a “city building” where they dont allow alcohol. My fiance’ and I are not big drinkers so its really not a big deal to us but I think we’ve decided it might be best for the guest to have a little somethin to enjoy themselves.
So…i need to figure out a way to “hide” that the lemonade or punch is “punched”…
im having to hide it because there will be a worker there just kind of overseeing things to make sure things are going smoothly.
I figure whatever i decide to punch I will mark with some kind of name so people will know what it is without saying “alcohol” but im just hoping the worker is not paying close attention to those details..im guessing the worker wont though, im hoping they will be just somewhere off to the side unnoticed.
So with all that said…anyone know of a good drink to mix up? I want something simple and fairly cheap. And it will be coming out of a drink dispenser so nothing frozen! 🙂

Well I’d suggest maybe sangria or something like that, with lots of fruit in it so it looks like fruit punch? But that could be a little obvious for alcohol content. If you wanted it hidden more than that maybe spiked lemonaid or something along those lines? One of my favorite summer drinks is UV Blue + Lemonade, and it does not taste alcohol-y at all, so it might be dangerous to over-indulge in. Plus it’s bright blue! (one of my wedding colors, so I may be biased)

Arnold Palmer with Firefly? 😉 That stuff is so hard to detect because it’s smooth!

Don’t mean to be a killjoy, but I’d be VERY careful about doing this. I’m assuming you’ve signed a contract for the space, and in that contact it states you won’t be having alcohol on premesis. If you violate this, the city can take action against you.
If you want to throw caution to the wind, I loooooooooove booze punches. I make one called Itpacksa Punch (get it? It packs a punch… punch. Oh I’m so funny). Seven up, Vodka, Lemonade, Limeade. Simple, delicious, effective.

Pomegranate Champagne Punch! It’s so stinking yummy it’s ridiculous!
2 cups fresh orange juice
1 quart pomegranate juice
2 cups chilled limeade
1 cup pomegranate seeds
1 (750ml) bottle of blush champagne
orange slices to garnish punch bowl (opt)
In punch bowl, mix pomegranate juice, orange juice, and limeade. Pour in champagne and float lime and orange slices on top along with some pomegranate seeds. Ladle into 12-ice filled glasses. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and serve
I’ve made this in huge vats for parties and it’s always a huge hit!

I second mrsawesome09 ‘s suggestion of sangria with fruit!

Firefly is a sweet tea vodka. I forgot to say that I agree with KristenGettingMarried though…could be quite the sticky situation if you get caught!

One of the flavored Hawaiian Punch Drinks and Vodka?

@KristenGettingMarried has a good point. You don’t want to risk getting caught if you signed a contract saying no alcohol. =/

@mwitter80: that looks really good! *steals*

thanks for the drink suggestion girls!
its unhighly that I get caught, I would make sure that we already fill up and have mixed the containers so no ones the wise BEFORE we get to reception hall. I would hope whoever is working would be minding there own business anyway and not all up in my wedding reception. although i dont know because ive never been to something at a city function so who knows. But anywho I don’t think there tooo strict on it so as long as we dont have bottles out or beer cans I would hope its not a huge deal
And I think if I do it i probably should do something real mellow so noones getting crazy drunk

Im going to have to try this firefly. That might work too because its so simple and we are already serving lemonade, tea, and water…so it might camoflauge in..lol
