I think your friend might be referring to the fact that Blue Nile has a feature under it’s "Carat Weight" education section where it shows a line drawing of a hand and you can pick a diamond size and see approximately how big it would look on a typical hand. But it’s not very helpful because obviously everyone’s hand is differently sized.

I think http://www.adiamondisforever.com might have something along the lines of what you’re looking for, but I’m not sure. Their flash site is down right now, but you should check later.

In general I’d recommend going to a jewelry store and just trying on lots of styles to get an idea of what you like. You don’t have to buy anything, just shop.

The only one I know if is Blue Nile…If you go to the build your own ring feature under engagement rings, and pick the diamond and setting, you can view the diamond from the side and top on a hand (although its not a real hand!)

Well, if you go to Blue Nile and click on a ring you like, there should be additional pictures, a couple of which are drawings of a hand with a ring on it.  Maybe that’s what she means?

Don’t know if you’re interested in antique-style rings but FayCullen.com has pics of rings on hands (like Blue Nile, if you click on the ring for the full details there are additional pics).   Same with http://antiqueengagementrings.com

bluenile does have that feature

If you use the "Build your own ring" feature on their website when you get to the end you can see the ring on a hand on a number of different angles. Just click on the "your setting" tab once the ring is built and you can see it on a hand. you can even zoom to see it up close.

I can’t say enough good things about bluenile. Fiance bought my Engagement Ring there and my wedding ring (with a 10% off coupon). The service was amazing, it arrived really quickly and the prices where exceptionally good. It’s a great place to get platinum without paying the jewlery store pricetags 🙂 It seems a bit scarey to make such a huge purchase online, but everything worked out great for us!

Yes, I wanted to add to this. Blue Nile is awesome, I stared at my *future* engagement ring, wedding ring, and both on the "hand" for months before we got engaged. Imagining it on my own hand. Wow, that sounds creepy. Haha. Anyway, once you go in and "build your own ring" there will be a little link under the ring that says "View details" click on that, and then there will be tiny pictures to the left, the bottom two are hands. Have fun!! And Blue Nile rocks, better prices and quality than you’ll find anywhere else, no tax and free overnight shipping! Doesn’t get much better than that!

jamesallen.com has that feature, too.
