My friend was just a bridesmaid in a wedding where they have been together for a total of 10 months. THey met December 2012 and the wedding was September of this year.

Also, I think there are quite a few bees who dated and got married in less than a year.

My parents (I dont know exactly how long it was though.) They only got married because my mom got pregnant, and they’re not together anymore.

At the ludicrously young age of 16, I married someone I had only known for a month. My mother, for some equally ludicrous reason thought this was a good idea and threw herself into wedding planning with determination! It should come as no surprise to discover that 6 months later we were no longer married.

My nephew’s mom married her second husband after they had known each other six months. She gave birth to their baby a few months after their first anniversary. At  the time I was in my early 20s and thought it seemed fast but since they were in their mid-30s I figured it was different. But now I’m a lot closer to mid-30s and I still couldn’t imagine marrying someone in under two years.

It worked out though. They are going on ten years and still seem very happy.

Re: wedding planning, if you do something simple, you don’t need much time.

ETA: BF’s parents met and married within a few months (still together) but it was a different culture and a different time.

Yeah I know of a few couples who have gotten married less than a year. My grandpa proposed to my grandma the night he met her and they got married a week later. They’ve been married 44 years as of last October.

My FH’s parents got married within 6 months of meeting and have been together since. They are SO happy together! I guess sometimes it does work out.

I went to high school with this girl who went to Vegas earlier this year, met a guy, and married him that night in one of the cheap Elvis wedding chapels. They weren’t drunk – this girl has a history of making stupid decisions (i.e. dropping out of high school). The guy was actually her tattoo artist… They’re still together – she permanently moved to Vegas to live with him.

Getting married in a year is okay but I think getting married the same day you met, or even during the first month, is crazy. You don’t know that person and likewise they don’t know you!!

My Dad proposed to my Mom on their first date (he was 22 and it was her 16th birthday)

She said no, but they did get married 4 years later. Still married!

@Mine29:  I dated my FI for 5 months before we got engaged. I moved in after 3 and at that point started discussing our future together. We are getting married next July so we will have been together for a total of 15 month. He is 37 and I am 26 and we both knew what we wanted and were blessed to have found it in each other.

I chose one month of dating, but! My cousin married his wife after he had merely KNOWN her for 2 weeks! They’re still happily married 3 years later!

My Mum and Dad got married after being together less than a year! Didn’t end well though… Not that all short engagements etc go that way!
