This post reminds me of this cartoon...me and my FI definitely fall into the "Two Nerds" category...

Option 1. I am marrying a structural engineer. We started dating 2 months before college.
Too funny! Mr. Seashell passes as #2. Though, I often call him my engi-nerd.
Yes! I love this post! My FI is a software engineer and We are definitely #2. I usually can't get him to be quiet long enough to do anything. He's super outgoing, which is great in his career, because a lot of times he stands out because of it!
LOL! My FH is an engineer and I did fall in love with him before he went to college! And he was a football player lol.
I am! He's an electrical engineer. And, we fit option #1 :) Cute post, by the way!
I love this! We are options 1 and 3... high school sweethearts and now we are both mechanical engineers!
The saying among my friends was: if she's in your classes, it's likely she's taken/not looking, or insane.
So I guess ours was a #3?
i am! my honey is a hardware engineer and we met through match.com! he's always telling me stories about how there were about 3 girls in every class and they weren't his type!
Okay, I cannot believe I am bringing up an ex on WB, but I just couldn't resist. I went to a school with a top engineering program. I was a liberal arts major, but my college boyfriend was an engineer. I guess he would fit option #2, but it didn't work out between us for a variety of reasons (and I am marrying the perfect guy for me).
It still cracks me up to this day to think about him. He is literally a rocket scientist who loses his keys/wallet on a weekly basis. I'll never forget the day we went dumpster diving because he accidently threw his keys in the garbage.
Haha yep, we're number 3. Both Computer Scientists. So many of my colleagues fall into those other categories :)
This is hilarious! FI is a mechanical engineer, and we definitely fit #2 :)
Ah, we're #3...sorta. Our school has a saying: "the odds are good, but the goods are odd" thanks to out 75% male campus. My husband has a degree in architectural engineering but went into the Army and I have a degree in chemistry but am employed as a materials engineer. I guess we're well-rounded, too =]
This is cute, I had a hard time believing FI when he told me he didn't date anyone seriously as an undergrad because he went to a techicnal University and there were few girls. We're closest to #2, he's a business (electrical) engineer and we met during our MBA.
Hehe, I don't know that PenguinGuy and I fit any of those. I am the engineer, we met in just about the dorkiest possible fashion while we were both in school (not the same school) but he is a chemist who is working as a mechanical engineer for the Navy now!
Haha, I love this! My FI is a mechanical engineer and I think he falls into category #2 the best. He is a nerd, but also loves hanging out with friends, his fraternity and a good beer:)
My fiance and I are none of the above (maybe #2?)! LOL! We met in college and I found that he is a SECRET nerd! I love it! He's a computer engineer (which you would never expect since he played football).
Engineers are awesome men to marry! :) Combine looks, charm, athletic ability, intellect and I'm SOLD! LOL!

My husband is an environmental engineer. We are definately option #2. He is as well-rounded as one can be. Very outgoing, social, hilarious!!!!, and not all that nerdy. I mean he has better fashion sense than me! He has his moments though I guess..but only sometimes. He's adorable to me nerdy or not. :)
Haha! I loved this so much I had to respond. My fiancé is a mechanical engineer and I'm a librarian with a BA in French--polar opposites in every decision we try to make. He wanted to make a work breakdown structure for wedding planning.....doesn't work well when the bride is more of a "notes jotted on scraps of paper sort of gal"... I guess we would sort of fall into category #2--together we make one well rounded person. :)
So true! We belong in the #1 category.....as well as the 'Very Bad' Shopping team category if we are purchasing something online. We are in the 'Good' category for 'in-store' shopping though because the boy will do anything to get out of real shopping.
Bahahah! My husband and I are both mechanical engineers. Let's see, I guess we are fit #2, 3, and 4. because he is very not nerdy. I was one of 3 girls in my engineering class and am a foreigner.
I love this thread.
Stesse, you are preaching to the choir. I miss my college friends who are somehow lost to girlfriends with insecurities about female engineers.
Round 2 is awesome. In our case it was grad school.
Fiance is ME, I am EE (which is superior, clearly, hee hee). I make him do all the electrical work around the house telling him I'm overqualified for it. Then I go and fix the car since he's overqualified for that.
I'm an option #1! I fell for him in high school before I knew how nerdy he was. I love him for it though!
Before I dated him I had never seen: star wars, dr. horribles sing along blog, star trek, or any other dorky things you can think of...
He's now a Mechanical Engineer, w00t!
My college roommate married an engineer, and they went with Route #1: they started dating prior to college.
I'm not but I have a funny story about my engineer neighbor and how convos go.
I was walking the dogs and one is a puppy so when I stopped to talk to him, the pup was busy chasing butterflies and jumping on our other dog.
So the guy goes 'you need to figure a way to capture her energy to power your house'
I just kinda laughed and said that'd be interesting, she does have lots of energy
he's like 'well, I mean humanely do it of course, let me think on it' .
Then I realized he was seriously trying to figure out how to turn my dog into a battery in a 'humane way'. He hasn't gotten back with the solution yet though.
I am! We fit option 2- I'm an anthropology major, and we met in one of my anthro classes.
This is a funny thread, wish I'd seen it sooner! :) I'm the engineer, he has an honours degree in English. He didn't believe me when I told him I was an engineer when we first met. He calls me the brains while he's the brawn. It's cute, but he's a smarty pants too, and a giant nerd in his own way! I guess we'd fit into number #2!
this is too funny.... when i was single, i was dating few engineers... chemical, civil, architec, biomed, and aeronautical. they were all very nice and pleasant. Some too pleasant or could not leave academic subjects for long time.
Wow! A lot of people fit into one of the 4 options! I can't say we do though. He was also in engineering physics and I was in lab medicine!
That is hilarious. I'm the engineer in the relationship...and that shopping cartoon is REALLY accurate! HAHA!
This is hilarious! My husband's an engineer, but I'm the nerdy one in the relationship! We don't fit in any of the categories though...
Haha. We're kind of like #3. He's a software "engineer", and I'm structural. We met my first day at college in the co-ed dorms, started dating about a week later, and lived happily ever after. :o)
Haha! FI is an engineer and we are definitely #2! We didn't meet until our late 20s and we're now officially in our 30s, but FI still kills at beer pong! Have to identify though with the girl who mentioned the "notes jotted on scraps of paper"...that is totally me, a little cluttered and disorganized...while FI will set a timer for himself while doing laundry so as not to waste any time in between loads!!
We're number 1. He graduates next May and I have no idea what his classes are about when he tries to explain them (he's an electrical engineering major). Although he has no clue what I'm saying when I talk psychology. And for the shopping cartoon we are definitely number 2 when it comes to electronics and technology. He makes sure it works really well and I have no idea so I usually just pick which color.
McHusband is a Mechanical Engineer and we met after we both graduated. He was 32ish and I was 28ish, so the only thing which applies to us is that he's an Engineer.
I guess we would fit in #1? He was already in college [electrical engineer] and I just started my first year... I was an english major then and now I'm a counselor. He always jokes that he has no emotions since he's an engineer (think Spock!) and I always joke that I have enough emotions for the both of us since I'm in a counselor :)
Cute thread!
