Your groom can wear whatever he wants! Mine wore chucks.

@McBezel:  High polish black oxfords (plain toe, ideally) or whole cuts are totally acceptable, correct, and stylish options with a tuxedo.  Patent leather is not necessary.

What kind of shoes were you thinking of?

My husband and I never follow what you “should” and “shouldn’t” do….for anything in life.  He wore true religion khakis and lacoste shoes for our wedding (although, we did do a destination wedding, I wore no shoes)
I say if the non-shiny shoes fit his personality, then he should wear that!

@McBezel:  Do you have photos of the shoes?  And I assume he’s renting a tux?

DH hates those shiny shoes that tux rentals come with. He has very nice shoes, Ferragamo’s, and he wore those for the wedding. He gave the groomsmen, ushers, etc the option to wear their own or rent. Only one showed up with shiny rental shoes.

@McBezel:  If you buy the tux, the patent leather shoes become more practical, as he could wear them with  his tux again.  But if he doesn’t like them, it’s still silly to buy them.  Regular high polished black leather dress shoes are equally stylish.  My only worry about the elevator shoes is ththis thick sole does not look very good with a tuxedo; they’re quite informal.  But, I don’t know what they look like, so it’s hard to give an opinion.  But the plainer they are, the better.

The photographer can always compose the photo in a way that makes him look taller.  I’m 5’7″ so I do understand.

@littlemisst08:  I bought a pair of CK patent opera pumps, because the Ferregamo ones are $600 🙁

@littlemisst08: I am looking at custom shoes on ety as an alternative.
