So me and my fiance got a puppy! Her name is Josie and she’s a Havanese. She’s 3 months old right now.
I love the save the dates with dogs and having a sign around them with the date or something similar.
But how easy is it to get these pictures? She does sit and listen well but she still is a puppy.
Please share your good & bad stories! And pics!!

We did a photo session with our doberman a few years ago. The photographer was fantastic, especially for never having worked with a dog before. We didnt do any of the signs or poses, it was more a candid shoot of an afternoon in the park. They turned out great. Even the shots when our pup was getting fed up with the wholemthing and grumpily laying on the ground turned out cute lol my only regret was not using a cuter leash

freckledjasmin: Go for it! It’s not something I’ve done but it looks fun.

It was fun when we did ours with our puppy. He had to be kept on his leash because he was too excited about our friends being there and taking pictures. *He LOVES people* Patience is really important when having your pet in pictures. It took a really long time for them to get the pictures we wanted. Luckily he is really cute and it was worth it!

my puppy was about 4 months when we took our pictures, it was definatly a hassle (he was eating sand the whole time). But we got some good shots, this isn’t the best one. Just be patient

I love engagement pics with dogs! Most of ours were just us, but when we went back to my house we took a couple with my dogs 🙂 My aunt did our engagement photos. They were 5 and 9 when they were taken.

I LOVE STDs with pets in them! I wish now that we’d done it since our GSDs mean so much to us.
Josie is adorable!

Are you having a photographer take the photos? If so talk to them first about it. To be honest I’ve done quite a few sessions with people’s dogs and it seems like those who want to do them have the worst behaved/most hyperactive dogs imaginable. They are always a distraction and always shift the focus from the couple to the dog. Now I’m not a pet photographer and make no claim to be – there are photographers who absolutely love shooting pets and know tricks to get them to do what they want. Don’t ever assume your photographer has that skil though. If you do decide to have the dog in the session, my recommendation is you have a dog sitter to take care of the dog when she isn’t in the photos. Another scenario is you start off with the dog, take a few photos, and have someone take the dog home while you continue on.

We didn’t use them for STD’s (middle of winter when we sent ours out) but I love our e-pics with our doggies. We have a big black and white version of this one in our hallway.

We did! Our photographer didn’t mind at all. We put 2 pictures with our dog on own save the dates!

We did our engagement photo’s with our 10 yr old lab mix. He is very very well behaved! And we were able to keep him off leash the whole time. I def reccomend bringing lots of treats! Maybe even something extra special like a little beef jerky 🙂 The photogrpaher held the treats up a lot and we kept them in our pockets to get our pup look at the camera, look at us, etc. Hope that helps! 🙂

freckledjasmin: The best thing to do is chat with your photographer. Personally, I’m a HUGE dog lover (have 2 myself) as well as most all pets (minus cats…lol). I had my dog in our engagement photos, and as a photographer, I have a lot of clients bring theirs to sessions. That being said, I always suggest limiting it. Have the dog in a handful of photos, and then have someone on standby to take your dog home.

freckledjasmin: i love dogs, and I would actually prefer to see a dog over the couple. Lol
For our save the dates I put a picture of my dog Daisy staring out the window waiting for me to come with the letter that DH proposed with tied around her neck. My Daisy is a very big part of my life and everyone knows that, and the fact that DH was so ceative with his proposal and included Daisy, it meant a lot to me. And everyone loved it.
