I am just curious how you decided on the name you did.... Has anyone ever done that method if they couldn't agree on a name?

Do you mean like a page in a book? Or do you mean you write down all the names you like and then pick one randomly by putting your finger on the page? Eitherway i dont know anyone personally who has done this

We're Jewish so we named our baby after a deceased family member. We wanted it to be someone we knew or at least our parents knew and we've heard stories about so we can tell our child good things about that person, so we made a list of all deceased grandparents and great grandparents.

I have a love of all old people names so I wasn't picky, and my husband picked his favorite.

@bells: I mean grab a book and open it and point to something on a page...lol. Or something as random as that.

My friend and her 2 other sisters all have "A" names.  Their dad was not into the baby naming and wanted to pick something quick- so they all ended up in the beginning of the "A" section.

I think the people who really can't decide usually care too much not too little, and it's the 'too little' people who I could imagine picking randomly. If you really can't decide I say go with something simple (Jane, Mary, David, Joseph) or ask the nurse or the doctor to pick---or name them after the nurse or doctor :)

I had seen it in a movie before and I wondered if people actually did that. I know it took us a few months to decide on the name. I was almost to the point of grabbing a book and just start marking every name I possible liked...lol.

never heard of folks doing it this way -- I know /i wouldn't. Names should be deliberate imo.

Well my grandma thought Ashley on Guiding Light was pretty, and we didn't have any Ashley's in the family yet. There ya go, that's the legend of my name! Funny story to tell so it all worked out!

Let's play a fun game everyone! Pick up the book that's physically nearest to you, and flip through until you see a name. The first name you see, first or last, you have to name your first/next/only/hypothetical child.

I can't wait to meet little Terry.

My mom couldn't decide on a name, so she flipped through a baby name book until she saw one she sort of liked. I think it's telling that my name is towards the end of the alphabet. I think she got desperate :).
