Okay. I haven’t used photoshop in a while, I switched to Illustrator so bare with me while I try to walk through this mentally. You said you have the shape you want and the background, so we’ll go from there.
- Start a new file in the resolution and size you want. Save as “label” or whatever.
- Open your background file. Drag and drop the image into your background image into your new “label” file. This should create a layer in the “layers” menu on the side. You can stretch your background image to fit the canvas size by using ALT+T to transform it.
- Repeat the above with your shape. If you need to create the shape from scratch, there are shapes in the toolbar that you can manipulate and transform.
- Add text using the “T” looking button in the tool bar. Remember to create a new layer for it (it should automatically do this).
If you google search Adobe Photoshop tutorials you’ll find a lot, like this one. Also look on YouTube for tutorials, I’ve had great luck there when I was first learning Illustrator!

When you are done, make sure you save one version with all the layers, and then resave as a flattened (one layer) file. That way, you have the layers if you want to make a change, but the flattened file will save as a smaller file, and likely take less time to print.
Always save a layered file, though, just in case you want to change something!
