Our main registry is at BBB, but we have half a dozen items on a JCP registry too. I just noticed that half of my items are now discontinued (we just started this registry a month ago), although it still shows the items are in stock. Should I leave my registry as is and hope these items are still around for my shower (in 3 months) or should I register for new items? I almost feel like I want to scrap this registry and start one somewhere else if half my items are already discontinued. Any thoughts?

If they are already discountinued, don’t count on them being in stock – even if it says they are when your family and friends try to check out. I don’t have experience with their registry system, but I did just have a very unpleasant experience with their online sales system.
I put in a big order during a clearance event, and I only put things in my cart that showed up plenty in stock. Every day after the order I’d get random cancellations saying that they never had the item. I think my original order had about eight items and I walked away with three. I’m not using this to attack JCPenney as a company, but their inventory system is not at all reliable.

They are probably discontinued because JCP just changed their business plan on Feb 1. I doubt the items will be coming back. JCP was going to decrease their inventory levels.

Thanks, that’s good to know!
