I also got a MS dress (Gatsby) and I was super torn between the light gold and the ivory/pewter.  I loved how the light gold looked on me, it was great for my skin tone..but when it was hanging on the rack, it looked down right brown….and that bothered me. Plus the light gold just didnt look right with the colors I chose for the bridesmaids. (we since changed the bm colors – but the new color still doesn’t look great)….so I went with the ivory and pewter.

I actually havent gotten my dress in yet – but I think about the gold all the time and wonder if the ivory/pewter is the right choice.

I think it’s all about your skin tone and hair colour, diamond white is not going to be the best choice for every person depening on their complexion and skin tone. What kind of complexion are you?

And also, I think if you asked anyone who was not getting married which shade of white they preferred they’d look at you like you were crazy! Don’t take this the wrong way, but sometimes I think us brides to be go a little wedding crazy and obsess over things ‘normal’ people wouldn’t even notice. I’m sure you will look just as lovely in white as you would in diamond white.

My dress is not actually white, it’s more of a golden, beige colour with a lace overlay. So far I’m not having colour regrets but I still have 6 months to go so it might still happen!

    Some thoughts –

What reasons lead you to pick the white-white?  It really does look good on certain skin tones.  There’s probably nothing wrong if you liked it when you bought it.

Did you try on dresses in both white-white and diamond white?

If you have a good photographer, don’t worry about how it will look in pictures, they’ll make it look good no matter what.

I don’t think white white is very flattering, but it’s really traditional

Do you wear white reguraly? Do you like how it looks on you? If so, I’m sure it will be fine. Some people really feel that white looks terrible on them and I think you hear more about diamond white being softer and universally flattering but it really is all about your personal coloring.

With darker skin and hair you’ll look good in white, I think it’s potentially less flattering on fair skin and blondes, but with your complexion you’ll have enough colour yourself to make it work.

Your thinking about the dim lighting makes sense too, I wouldn’t worry about the dress colour, sounds like you made the right choice.

I love white-white dresses! Ivory and diamond white looked dull and washed out on me. It depends on the you skin tone and what You like. If you tried on white dresses and they looked good on you then you are going to be just fine! Don’t worry about it. There are a million other details to stress over. You are going to be perfect come your wedding day!

My dress was diamond white and I looooved it :). I have an olive skin tone so it just complemented my skin better then regular white.

my dress is diamond white, and i love it. It’s just… I tried another dress before I also like, and it is black and white… because of my family and my FI’s family (they are traditional), I didn’t pick it… I from time to time still think of that black and white dress… I think the color is unique and great.

A black dress … makes me love and hate
