We're going to Hawaii! We have our accomodations picked out and will book sometime in Jan. We'll probably buy plane tickets around Easter. According to our travel agent, thats when tickets are cheapest.
The mister is in charge of honeymoon plans. I only ask that it is relaxing, warm, and beautiful. I know he's done some research, but we haven't made any decisions yet.
@ Fall In Love22, Thanks for the tip. Hopefully we will make some decisions and be able to get flights then.
we are going to do a minimoon the weekend after we get married hopefully we will do a real honeymoon in feb.
Yep. We had already decided we wanted to go to Yellowstone, and the lodging there fills up really far in advance. So we actually made reservations immediately after we booked our venue/date, a few months ago. We still haven't booked flights or figured out an exact itinerary, but at least we know we'll have somewhere to stay.
We've been talking about honeymoon plans but nothing is set in stone yet. We are thinking Turkey and Cyprus. Anybody been to either place? We haven't booked our tickets yet but I'm thinking we will soon because we want to fly on points. We want to go away for 3-4 weeks if our jobs allow, I'm hoping it will be our last big vacation for awhile because we are hoping to TTC after.
Like Crabbs my FI is in charge of our honeymoon plans. It'll be less stress on me and I'm all for being surprised (as long as when we get off that plan we are somewhere in the South Pacific ie.Fiji or Bora Bora
)
I completely trust him and hey it's one less thing for me to have to deal with.
@MrsDiddles: my FH loves Fiji, he was there 10 years ago on a vacation before continuing on to Australia to work (I also worked in Auz, but my stopovers were never so elegant). We're about 30% looking at Fiji though, because it would mean a lot of travel time.
We're 70% looking at going to an all-inclusive somewhere in the Leeward Antilles (Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao) because late September is the start of hurricane season and that area is out of the hurricane pathway.
Italy!! 1 week in Milan, 1 week in Rome. Maybe a day trip to Venice. Haven't started planning outside of Wikipedia-ing some places that I know I want to check out.
We are considering the same thing! We haven't really started planning it yet, and fiance is taking care of the honeymoon anyway, he says. Hopefully, I'll just have to show up!
We’re having a dilemma.
On the one hand, I want to go some place “different”, since our honeymoon will be 2 weeks, and we usually vacation 3-5 day vaca and don't travel too far…
On the other hand, I want to go someplace that is true and tried … we do have a couple of favorite romantic spots – Los Cabos Hilton, St Lucia Anse Chasetenet, Curacao Marriott…
So do we go someplace exotic different like Fiji?
My must haves are great, great food, some kind of night life, beach, nice room, great service
His must haves are ability to go scuba diving
Obviously he’s easier to please
we're going to Spain (haven't decided between Madrid or Barcelona as our homestay yet - any thoughts?) for 3-5 days and then taking a mediterrenean cruise.
anyone else thinking along these same lines?
i have no notion of when we should start booking but the easter suggestion sounds like a good one.
More dreaming than actual planning lol. We've decided on an upscale all inclusive somewhere in the Caribbean - we don't really want to do much except lay around on the beach, in hammocks, and of course in the room hehe. Being able to completely unwind and not having to worry about expenses would be perfect for us for this trip - we'll do some real traveling another time :)
@sarahbabs: Yeah, I think we're leaning towards and all-inclusive now. At first, I wanted to go to Europe for an adventure, but I think that will be a big hassle and will require more planning than we're willing to put into it. An adventure will definitely have to happen before we have kids, but I'm not sure the honeymoon will be the time to do it.
ETA: No concrete planning has taken place yet.
we just booked our honeymoon- we're going to jamaica for 10 days! we'll be staying at Couple's Swept Away in Negril for 6 days then heading over to Couples Sans Souci in Ochos Rios for 4 days. we couldn't decide between the two resorts so we decided to do both! we're leaving the morning after our wedding.. should be interesting haha.
our travel agent was awesome if anyone is in need of one- her name is sandra from Easy Escapes Travel. we got super low prices and some honeymoon perks, like room upgrades. love her.
We booked our honeymoon a month ago through our travel agent and got an incredible deal. We're going to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for 6 nights 7 days, all-inclusive at an adults only resort, Excellence Punta Cana. We're so excited, my fiance has never been out of New England before and never been on a plane (other than a little Cessna when we took a flying lesson for our anniversary). I'm so excited to see his reaction more than anything.
FI is in charge of that and he told me it's a surprise. Not sure where we will end up but my guess is somewhere out east Boston perhaps or NYC maybe Washington DC, I'm not really sure. I know it can't be out of the country because FI knows I don't have a passport.
Considering September is peak hurricane season, we're just doing a 5 day trip to New Mexico and Colorado - and saving up for a Caribbean trip in February or March (which in addition to avoiding potential hurricane nonsense, is great also because Feb and March are actually the ugliest months to be in Mass)
oh yeah- i forgot to add that we most definitely took out trip insurance since it'll be prime hurricane season!
We are thinking Belize. If we had limitless funds and a month (or a year!) to honeymoon I would looove to go to Australia, but it's over a day just to get there! Belize is much closer, on the edge of hurricance zone (I think!), and has pretty much everything we're looking for in a honeymoon spot (tropical, beachy, warm, we can just sit on a beach and drink mai tais or we can go ziplining through the trees or we can look at old mayan ruins!)
@FMCollado: We're going on a Carnival cruise from Barcelona in July for our honeymoon!
We just booked St. Lucia sandals resort! Hope some other bees are planing to go same week!
@sfblondebee: We started planning our honeymoon a while a go with research. We are close to booking our villa to ensure our dates are saved. Never too early and u want to make sure you get the honeymoon you deserve after all the crazy planning! Good luck :)
Hopefully we will have it booked by the end of next month. Do you think that would be too late. It is my FI job to look into the honeymoon, but he is not good at planning, so I guess it is now my job.
We finally decided on South Africa. I have the flights and safari booked - now working on hotels in cape town and other transportation stuff. I'm so excited!
We've just been talking Anout it but haven't actually booked anything. There are too many places to go to!!
We're really excited because this is our first trip by ourselves!
We have made some decisions, but haven't booked anything! A mini-moon at a Bed and Breakfast in Door County, WI - seriously so beautiful for probably three nights.
And then Costa Rica in January/Feb 2013 for 7 or 10 days.
I'm excited :)
We just booked our honeymoon to Hawaii!! We're staying at the Westin Resorts and Spa on Maui Ka'anapali, and taking a day trip to Oahu that will include a hellicopter ride! Now I need to find some super cute bathing suits! 239 days!
We just booked the 2nd leg of our trip last week- a western mediterranean cruise that goes from Spain to France to Italy. 7 days of heaven! The plan is to fly to London, stay in a hotel downtown for 3-4 days, then fly to Spain, get on our boat, cruise cruise cruise, and then fly home from spain. We still need to book our hotel in London, the 3 flights, and figure out how to get from the airport to the boat and back again.
We are doing a mini moon for a few days after, but I can't take off work that whole week. We were thinking of doing something in January or February of 2013. We were thinking about Mexico, but then decided it would be more fun with a group some other time. Neither of us is really the "sit and do nothing" type on vacation. I think we are leaning pretty heavily towards New Orleans or maybe Florida!
We were initially planning a big trip to Europe or Thailand. Then I got injured at work so our income decreased, plus, we realized it was monsoon season in SE Asia!
Our plan for now is to use the Marriott points we are receiving for our reception, plus a generous donation of a Ritz-Carlton timeshare from a family member to head to Hawaii!!! We're hoping for 9 or 10 days. If we feel reallllly ambitious, we may even opt to layover in SF and head to Napa for a couple of days!
We just booked a three night mini-moon in London for after our civil ceremony. It'll be FI's first time in London. I know it's an easy place to have a great time (and spend a lot).
As for our "real" honeymoon, we haven't made any plans yet.
just booked the honeymoon this morning! 6 nights at Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia! I'm so excited, I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face all day!

Hi Bees!
Just wondering if anyone has started planning/thinking about your honeymoon? We are seriously considering going to South Africa for a safari but not sure if it's too early to start booking. Where is everyone else at?
