NYE is SO overrated. I think i’ve had, like, one fun night out on NYE ever. So, we are staying home!

A friend of ours is hosting a get together at their place, very low-key, lots of food and wine and just chillaxing together playing games.  For the past few years, we have been going out for NYE so this year is a nice change of pace that I’m definately looking fwd too.

Steak and lobster sounds delish!

I can’t think of a better way to spend NYE’s than in my jammies, with a glass of wine, and my fiance to cuddle with.  🙂  We opted out of the clubbing scene!

I almost never go anywhere for New Years. FI is working this year, so I’ll probably continue my tradition of ignoring it :).

Last year FI and I bought a bottle of champagne, cuddled on the couch and watched the ball drop on TV (and we are from NYC!!). I hate the crowds and insanity of NYE in the city. It was one of the most memorable NYE I’ve ever had!!

This year we are visiting some friends, but it will be low key. Your plan sounds absolutely fabulous to me!

We are staying home and can’t wait! I’ve actually never done anything big on NYE. All the bars around here are way too expensive, its impossible to get a cab home and just overrated.

This year the BF and I will cuddle on the couch in our jammies and order in some chinese food, have some cocktails, and watch the ball drop. I am SOO excited for this haha.

@crayfish: EXACTLY!

We will stay home, my parents will be here too, and have some nice dinner. That’s perfect!

We have been doing the same thing for the past several years — We pick a nice local restaurant and have a quiet dinner usually around 8pm and then we head home, pop champagne and watch the ball drop on TV.  It’s quiet but I like it.  The weeks leading up to NYE are usually so hectic and packed that it’s nice to have time just the two of us.

that is us. I hate going out when it is so packed you can’t even dance or get a drink or might even have to wait in line to get in. We are staying in. We may have a few friends over and play Apples to Apples or something like that. (what? I like Apples to Apples! Smile )

@peacegrl099: A few years ago I had a small party with like 10 friends on NYE and we played that game and it was SO fun. But now I am currently obsessed with Catch Phrase. With a group of friends it can be soooo much fun!!

We never go out for NYE.  It’s impossible around here, since they shut down the main road out of town for a big street party.  And I hate the drunken, rowdy casino crowd that goes to that party, so we just avoid it all together.

Maybe you and your husband could compromise?  Like have your nice quiet dinner just the two of you, and then meet up with your sister’s friends right before midnight?  Or vice versa.

NYE is my least favourite day of the year. I freaking hate it. Bars and clubs are overpriced, everyone steps on your toes, too many weird drunk guys, snow, cold, ugh. I gave up on it years ago. Last year DH made me go out to a comedy club (one of our GM is a professional stand up comedian) which was fine, but when we got back to the hotel I mentioned in the elevator how tired I was and was ready for bed, and this other girl (another GM’s GF) invited everyone back to our room for a party (we had a two bedroom suite with her). What?! It freaking sucked. I hated it. Again.

SO this year I volunteered us to babysit my stepson and two nephews for NYE weekend while my sister and BIL are away. I can hardly wait to put the kids to bed, curl up on the couch and potentially fall asleep before midnight 😉 Sounds like a perfect night to me!

ETA: We had a great New Years a couple years ago. We went to a friend’s house and played Cranium all night 🙂
