@MsGinkgo:  I don’t believe they’ve established a “safe” amount.  I took Biotin 5000 and prenatals for 6 months or so before the wedding and it definitely helped my hair and nails!

@MsGinkgo:  It definetly helped with my hair but I put on some weight whilst taking it which is very weird for me because my weight always stays the same at 50kg… I think it was because it was somehow increasing my hunger so I stopped as soon as I realised and within a couple of weeks my wight was back down again. I then did a google search and found a lot of people had the same problem. I think it will depend on your body though but know that it is a possibility.

I took 5000mcg

I have been taking it for about a month now, have not noticed anything yet. My nails are still splitting on the sides :/

@MsGinkgo:  I do.  There really isn’t a lot of scientific evidence to say that it’s effective, but I figure it can’t hurt.  Something between taking biotin and a daily multi has improved my weird horizontal nail ridges.

I just stopped taking it actually, my normally very clear skin was breaking out like a 13 year old boy, which can apparently be a side effect. Truthfully, I didn’t notice a difference in my hair or nails.

I tried Biotin, but didn’t notice any results so I started taking chewable pre-natals.  It helped my hair grow a lot, and then I added about 3-4 more inches with clip in extensions on my wedding day.  I had JUST chopped off my long hair right before DH proposed, and really wanted it back for the wedding!

I definitely noticed a difference, specifically with my nails, though.

@MsGinkgo:  I took it for a few days last month and I got bad headaches – I have no idea if it was just a coincidence or what, but it sure scared me away from it!

I’ve been taking D3 because I’m never in the sun..and I have weak bones…but since I started taking 2000mg’s a day, my hair has grown fast the last 8 months and my nails are a lot stronger.  They used to be brittle and break easy.

I took Biotin for a while, but couldn’t tell that it actually did anything for me.

I’ve taken 2 a day for years!  I get tons of compliments on my hair…it grows pretty fast, too.

Not trying to be funny but I used to use a feed thru (add it to their food)biotin for my horses. We were trying torebuild some damaged hoof wall. For one horse, it was great. The other, developed like horse pimples is the best way I know to describe it along with mild facial swelling.  I did however see massive improvement with t the other horse who was in specialized shoes that causes minor damage.

I don’t know about people tho. Lol

I take Biotin! It works great for me. I didn’t notice a difference until after a few months but it really helps my hair. I have alopecia on the top of my hair so I have combined taking Biotin w/Rogain and the two together have helped all my thin spots and bald patches.
