Anyone take clomid when you already ovulate?

They say it makes a stronger ovulation, possibly. I’ve been on it a bunch of times. There’s been a time or two where I’ve ovulated an extra egg, but usually it’s only one. Taking it too many times in a row can make your lining thin though. I’ve never gotten pregnant on it though.

zoey0317 :  Honestly I’m not too sure.  That’s just how my nurses described it to me. I believe they said it could help the egg mature better or something like that but I don’t know how it would work.

zoey0317 :  some clinics want people to try it first because it’s low cost and low risk. Maybe it’ll work for you:)

I ovulate but will likely have to start Clomid here soon. 10 months of active TTC and one Ectopic, with 2.5 years of not preventing before that. My OB advised that it could increase a chance of multiples since I do already ovulate, but honestly I don’t think it really ups the odds that much. I’ve got to have an HSG in about 6 weeks before we’re cleared to TTC again. I’m going to give it 1 or 2 cycles before I make the jump to clomid.

zoey0317 :  Girl I feel you! It’s mentally one of the worst struggles ever. How many cycles are you currently on since having an HSG? I know for me I’m willing to only give it probably 2 cycles max after I have my HSG. And if we move to clomid, I”m probably only willing to do 2-3 cycles before we move on. I’m just tried of what I feel is wasting time….because I’ve found unless you press the issue it just doesn’t get anywhere.

The drugs inhibit an enzyme which suppresses estrogen, I think it is. The result is that your body produces more FSH, which stimulates ovulation and helps to grow the follicles quicker. I’m not a doctor it’s just what I foggily remember from my fertility appt.

My doctor was going to put me on letrozole, not clomid, but I do ovulate on my own. As luck would have it I got pregnant less than a month after my appointment, before I started the drugs.

i did 3 cycles of clomid, BFN, 2 cycles of IUI with clomid, BFN, 1 cycle of iui with injectibles, BFN, then we went to IVF where the 2nd cycle was successful.

my first IUI with clomid i had 4 mature follilces, i had to sign a paper i was ok with selective reduction or they would have cancelled it. they made it sound like a guarentee so i was very disasspointed to get that bfn.  my next 2 rounds were 2 and 1 lead follicle.

i don’t know what just clomid did, since i did that on my own, unmonitored against my RE wishes, but i had the rx, so i filled it.

i know a lot of people clomid worked for.

good luck.

zoey0317 :  I’m terrified to have an HSG. It seems like no matter how many times my OB says it doesn’t hurt, everything I read online says it does!

Fingers crossed for you that you get a BFP soon!
