I take loestrin 24 (24 color pills) its a lower dose BCP, but honestly I didn’t see any differences from switching from normal dose ortho. Still no sex drive and my cramps and acne got worse. Sorry if this doesn’t help =/

OMG! I took orthotrycyclin too and I lost my sex drive as well. I went off of it and I’m STILL not the same! My FI and I have had sex MAYBE 10 times in the past 2 years.

@ashleyyyg: is that the one that you only have 3 periods a year? Thats what I’m on and DH & I have had a HUGE problem with the NO sex drive thing! Like I almost hate it!! This makes me feel SOOOO Much better if its the same meds I’m on and I’m not the only one!?

Maybe I should switch to something else!?

I’m on LoEstin24Fe, too. It’s the only one I’ve been on, so I can’t compare to a higher dosage. However, I will say that I’ve not really expereinced side effects. And I enjoy having 24 active pills and only four placebo.

@emersynsmommy35:nope, you get your period monthly. I’m thinking of IF I ever get my sex drive back to just use condoms and never BC EVER again

I’m on Junel but the one with the placebo pills. I still have no sex drive but my periods have gotten much better. So much lighter, cramps and back pain are almost non-existent. I love this pill except the lack of sex drive. Hoping to go off it next year anyway so I’m just going to hang onto it.

@ashleyyyg: hmmm then maybe I was on that one before… the name just sounded familiar. However I’m on the one where you get it 3 times a year and I have had no sex drive AT ALL since Ive started it. It causes MAJOR problems with DH! I dont know what else to do!

@emersynsmommy35:luckily my FI doesnt care too much anymore. Theres nothing he can do. My doctors told me it might be because I suffer from spuratic depression bouts, but i SWEAR it was the birth control!

I actually had a problem with both of those.  My boobs always hurt and I had really bad mood swings. You better believe everyone told me to get off those fast 🙂 I know other people who take it and are perfectly fine with it so it definitely depends on the person.

I wouldn’t pay attention to reviews about meds online. there are going to be a lot of angry people who had a bad experience and want to tell their story. conversely, there are so many people who really like a product and don’t feel the need to give their feedback online.

I feel like I see SO MANY bad reviews of my BC (Mirena) and very few good ones. if you look it up online, you’d think it was invented by satan himself.  but me and all my girlfriends who are on it friggin’ love it. I loved mine so much I got a 2nd one after the first expired.

only YOU know how you will react to a birth control pill. if it was so horrible for so many women, then it wouldn’t have made it past the testing phase!

I’m on Loestrin now and the only major difference I noticed between Yaz (the one I took before) was that I had huge mood swings. I already had major PMS and it just enhanced it. I started taking a small dose of anti depressants and that helped a LOT. The anti depressants gave me a low sex drive though so I’ve recently stopped using them and seem to be doing fine with my mood swings/PMS.

I went to Loestrin 24 from ortho and I will never go back. Though I would reccommend if you feel like you are having side effects, try the brand name instead of the generic. The generic version of Ortho made me feel HORRIBLE. It was so bad. While the main drugs are the same, the fillers are different, and there are different, more pronounced, side effects.

I haven’t noticed a difference in my sex drive between the two, but as far other side effects (pms, long heavy periods, and other very random symptoms) I haven’t had any.

@sit1010: Ditto. I’m on Junel FE (iron in the placebos, which I don’t take anyway, I just skip taking pills for a week). I have much better periods/cramps/etc, but the sex drive is way down. I cannot wait until our wedding to be off the dang pill!
