I have thought about eloping countless times!! But it has not happened and will not happen at this point! Why is your guest list so large?! I don't know anyone who's guest list is that large! We are inviting around 215 and I think that is a lot already!!! If these are guests your parents are trying to invite you should put your foot down now and say that you cant afford to invite all of your parents' friends to a nice dinner! I'm sure some might say to elope but I think you should do what you want. If you want a smaller wedding then have one! If you want to elope then do it! You and your fiance should do whatever will make you the most happy!
Why can't u buy a beautiful dress when u elope? anyway, that's not a con. it's a non-issue. A con will be not having a big party feel and not having other friends/family members to share your day. A pro will be budget-friendliness (& more quality control over everything you want to put into ur small party/elopment)
Yeah, we got like this a couple of months ago until I had a mini meltdown and told him that we would have to get credit cards to pay for this and that is irresponsible for us. So we took our guest list from 150 to 30. We're paying for it ourselves and we've made it clear that we will not be giving away invites for every person my in-laws or my family wants...
I still kind of want to elope but the Catholic Church frowns on it.
Ughhh its sooo stressful!!
I wanted to invite 150 MAX, with the hopes of 125-130 showing up (MAX)
Well the guest list is 190 - and I am PRAYING for lots of declines!!!!
And we were hoping to pay all in cash but since the FI was out of work for 2 months due to a broken arm (and lots of medical copays) we have to put 1/3 of it on a credit card (about $4000).
SUCKSSSS
*we "eloped" and were married in our home last year - just our parents and siblings.....We are having a wedding since no one knows about it - sometimes I just want to throw in the towel and say, "The jig is up - we are married already!!" but I bought a fabulous dress and would regret not having the party in the end

So it's been a week of wedding planning & so we have picked a date, color scheme, venue & caterer. Now it's on to the guest list & this is the part that is giving me the worst HEAD ACHE ever!!! We have 450 guests on the list thus far! Can you say $$$$$
I am honestly very very close to just eloping. Or inviting our parents & that's it!!
Anyone else feel / felt this way?! What are the pros/cons of eloping. Other than not getting to buy a beautiful dress.
