I'm rather in like with these invitations from Martha Stewart:

Has anyone tried these?  In theory, the shouldn't be that hideous to do, but that Martha, she's led me astray before (the bird ornament fiasco of 2004 comes to mind).  I was just wondering whether anyone had any hints, tips or warnings.

I would worry about using the right type of material so that it wouldn't fray on the edges.  Also, I would guess that a stretchy fabric may not work quite as well as a nice thick linen or something.

I have thought about using fabric for my invites, but had these concerns.

I have anti-fray fluid and I'm thinking that the fact that the fabric is stuck right out to the edge would reduce fraying.  I too am wondering about it.  I may have to do a trial run and see how it holds up.  I just hate to invest in the little machine.  Does anyone know how sticky the Xyron is (I don't know how you would described stickiness levels, but just wondering)

I think it would add great texture, and it wouldn't fray (I'd definetly use a cotton or cotton blend - any quilting fabric, really).  It would be a LOT of work, especially getting them straight, and then cutting them down...

OOOH! I could do this for xmas cards - I have a TON of left over fabric from last year! Good idea! Don't know if I'd trust doing it for my wedding invites though!

As long as the fabric would fit through the Xyron it should stick. You would have to be very careful about sticking it down since once you do it is there to stay. I would be more worried about frayed edges then having the fabric stick.

I caved and bought the Xyron.  My test runs have turned out very well.  I put the cardstock through the machine instead of the fabric and then trimmed the fabric with my rotary cutter.  Since the fabric is fully adhered, there was no fraying.
