@elysion:  Hmmm… I have not tried this before, and actually have a hard time calling it yoga… but bear with me on this.

I think that it’s a great weight-loss tool that is accessible, and combines yoga-like moves with resistance and other muscle-building exercises. There are some pretty incredible stories/videos on their site (especially the disabled vet) and I commend them for sicking to a plan and becoming healthier.

However, calling it yoga is a little misleading. For any yogis here on the Bee, you know that yoga is not necessarily about losing weight, or becoming “ripped.” Yoga is a spirtual practice. The word “yoga” comes from the sanskrit word “yuj” which means to yoke the spirit. The ultimate goal of yoga is to achieve a peaceful mind. I am not sure if these videos incorperate any emphasis on that.

Annnyways… after proving myself to be a total yoga snob (sorry, don’t hate me) I think this is a pretty neat program that could get people more comfortable with yoga-like workouts. Combined with the right diet, I’m sure you could see some great results!

BTW – if you’re looking for a type of yoga that is especially demanding, look for either Astanga or Vinyasa classes. I guarantee they will get your heart rate up!
